Last time I had the V7II out the two yellow light came on and stayed on.
So I read in the book that came with the bike on how to reset the tire size thing and how to turn on/off the traction control.
Well none of that will work because the lights never go off .
I hooked the guzzi tec thing up to my computer and blanked out the "Faults" , and still those lights are on ! :rolleyes:
I'm thinking : Unplug those yellow light and forget them rather than throwing $$$ at the dealer so they can replace everything - one thing at a time till the get lucky and find the right part.
Anybody else ever have a problem with the traction control / anti lock brake systems ?

Was there any active or stored faults in the dash? Two yellow lights ?, one must be abs . You may need to re calibrate the abs per directions in the manual. The prompts must be followed exactly as directed. I would check and record any faults that may return. Did you change a tire size? It could be a wheel speed sensor , they can go bad especially if water gets in the sensor from around the wire. Sometimes a hairdryer will dry them out and they will work again,,,or not. If one is bad it will throw a fault code . Had the same thing happen on a cali 14 and it did throw a code which led me to the rear wheel speed sensor.

Does the bike run and ride OK? When a wheel sensor went out on my II it was so down on power I could hardly get it back to the house.

Yes one is brake , other is traction. The normally go off and that is where the "Re-programming" begins , now they never go off so there ain't no reprogramming.
Wheel sensor , how do ya check the "wheel sensor" ya think ?
Another thing (clue) , the front master cylinder locks-up some times ... but I can "over-ride" it with a heavy pull . I thought it might have been the master cylinder going bad ? But maybe the ABS system is not letting brake fluid flow through for some reason . Like a valve in the control unit sticking ???
The whole affair makes me want to either trade it off or convert (by-pass the control unit) it to old fashion "pull the brake to stop" system.

Re connect the bike to your laptop and check for codes, if any write them down and heres a link to what they mean.

Well , I went out a while ago and hooked it up. I did take a nice long ride today after clearing the Faults yesterday.
The code I got just a few minutes ago are :
P0140
P0502 Invalid Signal
P0611 Saved Data File for Safety Invalid Signal
I'll google them if no one has a clue what they mean ?

It looks like po140 is lambra probe heater and
po502 is rear wheel speed sensor signal does not match vehicle speed sensor.
It could be a calibration issue if the rear tire was changed or a faulty rear abs wheel sensor
po 6011 is just a data file from the factory no worries on that one

Part number is the same for both front and rear wheel sensors. I bought one from a parted out wrecked bike and used silicone where the wire goes into the sensor per the advice here. MMRanch, have you noticed any change in the way the bike runs and rides? That would be a big clue too, I would think. I'm wondering about this master cylinder issue you mentioned :shocked:

Sarah the motor still pulls like a new one . :grin:
The power level compared to the gearing still feels like there needs to be less number of gears and a taller end result when high gear gets chosen. Power is good :thumb:
The first thing I did was to clean the gap between the sensor and the wheel its pointed at. On the rear the GAP WAS A LOT WIDER than the front. Its time for a new rear tire (already got one in hand) , so the bike is headed to the shop and the rear tire is coming off Monday . So I'll cut the Sensor gap down to about ??? (.010") ??? or do ya'll think that's too close ?
The info I have for the sensors is part #859792 , I'll google it to see how much a part will be "IF" that has to happen.
Owning a Guzzi might be hard to do without back-up sometimes !

Part # 859792. Cadre might have that in stock ready to go, and there's a bunch of used ones on Ebay. But I hesitate to think it's a wheel sensor, based on the way my bike behaved when one went bad. Glad you've got something else to ride. Keep us posted.

I got a new wheel sensor off ebay and put it in the rear. Guess what ... Problem solved , :grin:

:thumb: Now take some silicone sealant and add a wee bit around where the wire enters the plastic sensor body . The on board diagnostics are pretty handy once you are set up to access them. Glad you got it sorted out.

I'm fight with the same situation on my V85. Unable to recal the traction control. Mounted new tires and no problem. took the front off again and then put back on. Started back up and pumped up the front brakes and then red traction control warning light came on. No cruise control,ride mode stays flashing. Should this be a warranty/safety issue?

here's a link to the service manual pages 56 thru 60 are relevant. First I would check the sensor air gap to the tone wheels.

Did that fix your front brake also? When was the last time you changed the brake fluid?

No did not repair front brake,just normal pump up after removing a wheel. Wheel spacing should be pretty much repeatable after tightening the axles. Sensor spacing looks to be within spec. I pulled the front spacer and had a look/see. No damage and not sure if there is a way to even adjust the gap. When I try a recal sometimes I get to the "hold speed" message but then it blows out to the "traction control not activated warning". Tried disconnecting the battery for a period of time,no luck. It has me puzzeled,the day before mounted tires and no issues. The next day when I had the front wheel off and back on I forgot to pump up brakes till after I started it up. When I gave the front brake lever a few pumps thats when the warning light came on.
