I give mine a good cleaning, fill up the gas tank with some fresh non ethanol gas add some good fuel treatment run it down the road a few miles , hook up the battery tender maybe once a month and call it a day. ( helps to have a heated garage, I'm lucky )

Well after the bikes are put away and the snow starts to fall, it's time to run dogs...

For the last 4 years have been buying a project bike. Work on it all winter and sell it in the spring. CBX, KZ900, T140E, and this year a VF1000F.

Winterize the bikes, put them up (I have heated, too, thank goodness) and get in the plow.  Play around with a few projects and keep planning for the move to the Southwest before they run out of water.

I live in PA an have bikes I ride all year and others that don't. The ones that don't get ridden get the same treatment as the ones that do. Parked in the garage and every couple of weeks plug it into the batter tender until it reached full charge then unplug it and go about my life.

Several month is not long term storage so there is nothing that needs to be done. Other than if you have a carb'ed bike draining the bowl(s) is the only step I'd advise.

I like many like to use the winter months to catch up on any maintenance thats due or fixing the litttle things you've put off throughout the year.

I put the battery charger on them once a month, then a 1/2 hour ride the next day or so, weather permitting. If have the opportunity, I'll put some boat gas in the tank and run it. I buy Valvtect fuel for my boat in the summer. http://www.valvtect.com/marineFuelGasoline.asp There's usually 30-40 gallons aboard when it comes home in the fall. I pump the tanks and use up the fuel in the car, tractor, snowblower...

Wrapping up my first year with my 02 Stone, and this winter will be working on the things I did not get to last winter. new tires, checking the head bearings, intake rubbers, new petcock, and a few other things..  I was hoping to get a few more miles in, but its not looking the case the way the fall has went.

Yes ,winter definitely sucks.   For all my carbed bikes, to winterize, I do one last ride with ethanol free gas treated with seafoam or startron fuel stabilizer.    I drain the ethanol-polluted fuel, and then put a gallon of the treated ethanol free in.   Go for one last ride ,then completely drain the fuel from the fuel tank and carbs.

The fuel injected bikes, I also remove as much of the ethanol gas as I can, and then put a couple gallons of treated ethanol free in, and then go for one last ride.    I didn't bother removing the remaining ethanol free gas from the modern bikes after the last ride.

I winterize all bikes except one, usually whatever I have at the time with the best wind protection and good electrical power for heated gear.

That one, I'll ride all winter, so long as roads are dry and mostly salt free.

I can only recommend that $5 trickle charger from Harbor Freight.  The Guzzi rider solution unless someone has a free charger.

A $5 charger can cost you a new battery.

Definitely make sure whatever charger you use as "float mode", and doesn't over charge your battery.

In "The Valley of the Sun", (aka Phoenix, AZ), extreme heat, like 110 degrees daytime / 100 degrees midnight for 10 weeks like last summer, will KILL any battery faster than you can say "Click-Click-Click!!"

My experience is that a quality battery tender, (like DELTRAN), will increase battery life from about 2-2.5 years to 5 years... That's about the best one can hope for around here...   :thumb:

Same here.  I've never "winterized" the bikes.  There are always days here and there which are nice enough to go for a ride, December through February.

NO! Winter doesnt suck. We need so many chilling hours for our fruit trees to rest and then make a good crop. 24 hours of below freezing kills some of the harmful bugs. (Not enough!)

The heat has been hard on this old man. Trying to work when you can't see with your eyes red from sweat and you feel like you will pass out. By noon you are done from working in the heat. Try picking up a wrench that has been in 100 degree heat. You will inspect it right quick.

We have a good mix of cool weather here in East Texas. I carp about the summers, but don't want to dig out of snow and all the other joys of those of you that like winter.

Now I'll put on a long sleeve flannel shirt and get to work outside.

But come June through November, the landscape quickly morphs into "The Forbidden Planet" with daytime temperatures that often exceed 105-110 degrees and 100 degrees at midnight...and last summer, for about 10 weeks in a row!!!

You know I dont mind winter. Its a nice reset, and allows you to wrap things up, and start anew for the upcoming summer.. What I dont like is the 6 month of it we get here in upstate NY!!!  A move to NC or SC is in the cards... Still winter, but shorter!

I think you are just trying to discourage people from coming to Oak Creek Az.   It is above 4,000 feet altitude and rarely gets above 101 degrees F..  I quote from this, https://weatherspark.com/y/2635/Average-Weather-in-Village-of-Oak-Creek-(Big-Park)-Arizona-United-States-Year-Round
