In search of 10w60 syn oil
« on: March 25, 2021, 07:45:16 PM »
at a decent price!

Last oil I bought was from Iron Pony Motorsports. On closeout for 4.99 for 1 liter. Yes I know that was a closeout and was 3 years ago and bread used to be a quarter!! (snapping suspenders!!!)

As they no longer have that deal the best I could find was Motul for 99.99 for 12 liters or 8.32 a liter on EBay.

Anybody find the 10w60 cheaper? (Guzzi content).

Ride safe and often,

Jeff

Google it. There will be several places to order 10-60 full synthetic in a few different brands. That’s what I did last oil change on the Guzzi that required the 10-60👍

The Motul 5L was real cheap on Amazon a while back but has gone up some.

I've been using the Liqui Moly but it's a little bit more than Motul.

10W 60 non "ester base" oils are less expensive (and normally less efficient)

One of my Guzzi owner's manuals recommends "Castrol Products"

This is a favorite over on the Porsche forums and is available at many auto parts stores.

I know of at least one Guzzi dealer that uses 10W-50 in their service area.

Last time I changed mine, I was out of that 10W-60 stuff and had to use what was on the shelf.

O’reilly’s Auto Parts carries Castrol Edge 10W60.  That’s what I use.

When the new O'Reillys opened in my hometown they were proud of everything they stocked. I said I bet you don't stock the weight oil my Guzzi takes. They pointed to the Castrol on the shelf. Now the only thing I have to get in advance is the oil filter for my 1400. It appears the only ones are from Guzzi and HiFlo and it looks like HiFlo makes them for the factory. I tried to cross reference them, nada.

I completely agree any good auto parts store can have this ordered and in hand quickly. Been using it now for three years. Good oil. BK

The Hi-Flo filters are available at Fortnine in Canada :) . Peter
And something else , what is a "less efficient" motor oil ?

I was going to suggest Castrol. But, OP said CHEAP. The last time I bought some it was about $15 per quart or liter.

From the Castrol web page:

Castrol® EDGE® is our strongest brand of motor oil. It's a full synthetic that has been liquid engineered to meet the demands of today's high-pressure engines. In fact, its Titanium Technology means that it's three times stronger against viscosity breakdown than other leading synthetic oils. So even if your OEM doesn't demand a full synthetic oil, you can be assured that Castrol® EDGE® will give your car's engine the best possible protection.

Strongest?  I would not have thought to use the adjective “strongest” with respect to motor oil.

I wonder how compassionate this oil is and whether it is loyal.

It probably is good oil, but Castrol’s marketing BS causes me not to buy it on principle.

I can’t find the ENI AGIP 10W-60 anymore.  I’ve switched to the Redline 10W-60, ester synthetic.

I like the Redline because it is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.
