850-T-3 oil pan bolt pattern, a bit of a rhetorical question...

So I went to have a peek at an 850-T nearby, I just went to see if, on an off chance that it would have one of the early T-3 engines.  Just because.

Well low and behold, I see this bolt pattern.

Now I am 99.99% certain that his tells me that it is in fact a filtered engine.  Correct...?  Thought I would ask the collective.

I am quite sure that all T-3s had filters. There should be a total of 18 bolts concerning the pan.

Oh I agree John,
I should have asked whether this bolt pattern could be a definitive as to whether there is a filter residing in that pan Without dropping it..?

On pans with a filter there will be a circle casting mark between the fins at where the screen pick up is located.
Need a strait up shot for that one.

That is a good point.  So the circle casting is a mark as to the location of the screen, not the spin on oil filter...?  And is that a certain mark as far back as 1974/75-ish...?  Even the T had the screen, no...?

I hate to drop that pan but I will if I must.

Well, funny that you would mention that... the engine is stuck or at least the engine will not turn by jamming a gear and trying to roll it over.  Not sure if it is the engine locked or the gearbox.  Either way it will be a rebuild.

That is an oil filter pan. only 14 perimeter screws on non-filtered engines, 18 (including the 4 shown) on filtered engines.

Look at the front of the oil pan underneath the alternator area if it has a filter there will be three plug holes on the pan front the plugs are about 1/2 inch in diameter if you have plugsyou have a filter no plugs no filter
