Is this Benny?  If so, best wishes.  If another pooch, best wishes, too.

That's interesting; of course, they're speculating about things that happened long ago, so it may or may not have come down that way.

But there's no doubt that Jack can read our expressions, movements, gestures, etc better than we can read them ourselves.   Even though he knows about 80 words and what they mean (and he can spell about 6 of them - he knows t-r-e-a-t, b-e-d, t-r-u-c-k, p-i-l-l, and a few others), he communicates much more by reading our expressions or movements, and following them with his own.

Watching Austin City Limits 30 years on tribute to SRV . It can't be 30 years since his death can it ? Seems just last year we were watching him burn down the old Hole in the Wall bar in Nacogdoches right before he got famous .

Thanks for the music Little Stevie .

Bummed I missed that ACL show.  I was at the pizza shop in VT when we heard the news of the helicopter crash & his death on the radio.  Made me feel fortunate that i was able to see him live once here in Spartanburg in 87. When SRV & Pride and Joy came out, it really clicked with me.  No one else has ever compared to him and probably never will.

There's nothing like a Master craftsman & artist who has complete fluency with the tools of their trade to express what they desire as they desire.  SRV was a true Master.

Jim, Dorcia's kid, and I saw SRVs last concert in Indy before the crash. Sad. He had gotten himself straightened out and had his best playing still ahead of him.

We got about 10" here, drifted 18" in the lee of the house. The beagle loves it, the cats are pissed off. Shortly they'll find the mice have moved indoors and they'll be happy again.

Ground was still warm in the morning so most of it melted off after the snowplow went thru. Then it got cold and the ground froze. 8 degrees F tonight.

But it's supposed to be sunny the rest of the week and up to about 60 degrees by Thursday. Riding season's not quite over but the skis are waxed.

Oklahoma City ice storm this morning, I hope you get power back soon. It’s 10 F here. Don’t fall!  I’m on my way to the MPLS vets hospital to get some nerves burnt off in my back.  Not a big deal and it helps for a year or so. Getting old ain’t for kids!

Good luck with that, John. You are right.. getting old isn't for sissies. I'm getting a new "clutch" hand next week. Not looking forward to that and the rehab, but  a guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do.

A very pleasant 1.1/2 weeks away up in Paradise (top of our South Island).

Excuse was a surprise 50th party for "Captain Cumulus", one of the couple that organise the Tattley Rappet rally.  His wife organised, by devious means, a surprise party which involved a number of "extra" people over what he was expecting.  It was originally going to be the party focus of this years rally, but that was canned due to -.  He is a quiet guy of few words usually, but there was a happy grin on his face when a number of Guzzista arrived from various parts of the country.

As well as a Cali, (being worked on) he has a 1200 Triumph with the windshields etc, which has the words "Starship Enterprise" on it.  He is vaper without peer and can be tracked by the constant white cloud following him around; at the last rally someone nick-named him Captain Cumulus of the Starship Enterprise" and the name sort of stuck.  A great time was had by all. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Between staying in our family's bach in top of the South Island, commuting to Nelson where I stayed with friends, partying etc., I ended up covering 845 miles, and turned over the 30,000 mile mark on the way home.

Up until this trip I was able to say, (in spite if my gearbox woes) that the motor has never missed a beat.  Not true now.  Passing a milk tanker going up a hill and it started missing, and badly.  Got past (thinking that surely it wasn't the rev limiter kicking in) when I saw the EFI light flicking on and off.  A few more lurches, and going down the hill it died.  Pulled off the road with a sinking feeling.  Thought with a deep thocus , thought of all the roadworks (and there were lots) that I had ridden through,  postings on W.G., and felt around the side stand.  Couldn't see anything as it was dusk but what I felt was not good.  I suspect a rock kicked up and gave the switch a yuletide ding.  straightened out things the best I could, held breath and hit button A.  Roared into life and did the last 70 miles without any red lights.

Where would we be without W.G! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Pretty great day here.  Perfect carving weather & air to finish this dormered marble capital.  This is a reproduction of a circa 1875 memorial- a style & work that is rarely requested or sold anymore. My cousin taught me how to do it.

3 wks of carving.  It's easy to fake a curve. It's much harder to do lots of straight lines and square edges with no breaks or chips and have everything come out exactly as planned.  Very, very cool...

Thank you, sirs.  Your good words mean a lot to me.

My wife and I just did some video before it ships tomorrow.  We're both dumbfounded with the dramatic way it handles light.  Most stones are easy to comprehend.  This one is different- it's one of those stones that I know I did but that is hard to believe that I actually did it.  Pretty special.  The best part is that it's being installed about 25 miles from my studio.  Not many local jobs.

This stone is for a 16 yr old that passed away just over a year ago.  His family is very happy with the job, which is a lot more important than me being happy.

Today i plucked up courage, wheeled the bike out, lay down on the ground with my wife's hand mirror and inspected the damage to the sidestand switch.

I expected two wires, it has three. :undecided:  The cap has been completely knocked off the switch, the brown (which I assume is live) is still hanging on but the insulation has pulled off the wire by about 10mm, and the two other wire are just smacked together and completely munted.  Ran it so I gather that it doesnt matter if the two other wires are together.  looked at the two 'orribly strong springs that work the sidestand and thought, "yeah nah".

Cut the brown off, insulated everything, zip tied it all together with the battery vent pipe and a breather pipe, and then zip tied the whole bunch out of the way.

I did like the sidestand switch but I am afraid that it was toast.
