Rode the mighty GRiSO today. Temp range 34 to 43 degrees.
148 miles.  :bike-037:
Used my Tourmaster Synergy Pro-Plus electric vest. Sweet.
Now about these cold fingers and toes... :boozing:

Returned the two crazy dogs to their actual dad , he has built them a nice carpeted area inside the garage , they seemed happy to be back in their own yard .

The sun is shining and it is 50 degrees melting some of the ice and snow. More and more folks are getting power back on. The big problem is so many busted water pipes that plumbers are allowed to come in from other states to assist.

The turnip farmer is mighty thankful that Beaver and I escaped with little damage.

55F today, clear skies and dry roads. So I took my first ride of 2021. There's a lot of sand and gravel so no aggressive cornering yet.
Back to skiing on Friday. Another storm coming thru.

There's been a few really great days here lately.  The things that kept happening made me think about this thread....    Life has been a lot worse.

Turned down a side street instead of just passing through this little town on the way to somewhere else.  Kingwood, WV.

That's what I was thinking, Dusty.  I'm a big fan of old small towns.  In this case, I was searching for the BBQ stand Tag (see tag-o-rama thread) that Dave put up and discovered that Main St of Kingwood WV is not, in fact, the main street through town.  The Tag thread worked as intended: got me out riding and exploring.  I also discovered an art center and a diner that I didn't know were there.

I rode to Reno yesterday to go to a swap meet. Turns out It was a couple of weekends ago. Stopped by the Harley Dealer to use the rest room. New Harleys sure are nice looking but I doubt I would ever own another unless they make something that isn't such a throwback. Then I went to visit a Guzzi friend at his shop. He was cutting valve seats in a Norton head. He showed me an Enfield frame he was working on straightening. The steering head was twisted from an accident. Rode the 85 miles back home in the afternoon sun. The Audace ran well and didn't miss a beat. Love riding that bike at speed. A very good day.

Rather mixed I am sorry to report and I am hoping that by the time I have finished typing, I might have it figured out.
1. Knocked some skin off the edge of an excision on my way to the doc. Stopped bleeding 1/2 hour later.
2. Waited 1/2 hour for the doc in an uncomfortable position but my back did not complain once.
3. Went home 3 biopsies later and with a plaster over my self inflicted wound ( SIF ).
4. The plaster over the SIF obscured a month old excision ( see 1 ) was was to be CAT scanned tomorrow morning, preparatory to radium treatment for an SCC, that the excision did not quite remove, initially. After several phone calls during which lunch was taken, it was decided to put the whole thing off for a week.
5. Got into trouble transferring money from one bank to another, to pay for the radium treatment in coming weeks.
6. Found a phone number for the bank, which was going to ring back in 1/2 hour. That was 2 hours ago. In the meantime I figured it out anyway. I had made a simple mistake.
7. So..........here we are; no more dramas

Wore out both my old back and hands putting carpeting in the square body Chevy, in the wind, outside. On a side note, I put that peel and stick sound deadener in 1st. That stuff is a joy to work with, one heck of a nice product.

April 1 (no fooling) was probably my last day teaching skiing. A beautiful warm day and I taught a group of four great kids, ages 10 to 14. They wanted to go fast so we visited the race course, stayed high on cold snow, and posted 20,000 vertical feet. That's a lot for a teaching day.

- winter has been tough. I suited up the usual number of days for a part-timer, about 35, but taught only half the hours this year -- we get paid (and tipped) only when we teach, not for standing around or free-skiing. On the upside I taught only one group lesson -- everything else was privates, which is more paid hours daily and way bigger tips.

I'm 72. Still skiing better than when I was 22 (equipment is better and I know a lot more), but it's time to quit pandering to rich folks and free ski with my friends. Less stopping, waiting, gabbing. Faster turns. 30,000 foot days. Dirtier jokes.

Well, mowing lawns is a waste of my life but is what it is.  I inherited my mother's big yard next door during dad's cancer and have had it since he died in '13. Her good friend neighbor is now also a widow and is having an undeserved fluff-up with family  who normally does her yard.  It was getting tall and she was very upset (which was making my mother upset), so I volunteered to mow it to get it caught up.  Mowed it Mon, told her no money.  Mowed it again today to even it up and rake up the mess.

She told me to come in before I left. So I did.  She said "I just made this for you- I hope you like it." Then she gave me a cream cheese pie with cherries!

After 5 hrs mowing her yard, ma's yard and our yard, it's time for a slice of pie.  Very cool.

Speaking of lawns that need mowing , finally broke down and bought a battery powered mower , a basic Kobalt model  because that was what was readily available . Even received a 20% discount , and it works a charm  :thumb:

Very cool. With normal remove & recharge batteries, that's a lot better than the brand new one a girlfriend had 25+yrs ago.

It cut great but had to be plugged in overnight to charge.  If you missed a mowing and let grass grow long. it killed the battery.  Then it could take a full week or more of daily mowing to catch up. it was a vicious cycle- longer grass killed battery faster, less grass got cut, plug it in overnight, repeat, repeat, ....  Man, I hated that mower.

And she didn't make me cream cheese pie with cherries, either.

Yes , battery technology now is amazing , plus the new brushless DC motors are much more efficient .

The mower is impressive , powerful , light , quiet , had been waiting until the tech and price got to a certain point , we are there now .

My wife JoAnn bought an Ego for the front yard. Haven't used up a battery charge yet working it. It's been chopped already w/bagger and the only part that is not all green yet. I wanted a higher lift blade but the dealer said it won't handle it. I may still try one.

Had our little bike meet today.  30 to 40 bikes.  Nice turnout and the best day of the year for the Bakery, I'm sure.  I started and ended it with some good food.  Pastries at the Bakery then a good chicken dinner at the local American Legion.  Always worth it to support local folks.

Good day.
