Jerry, some of the problems that make it confusing is many are posting about 8v while some are posting about 4v. In 2008 they upgrade the rear shock spring to a higher rate. The top box changed also unless the dealer has old leftover stock of top boxes, doubtful at this time. There are other changes but I don't remember them all. Moto International did my headlight wiring upgrade before shipping my 09. The 8v seat fits the early Norge, I have a 8v gel seat on mine now. The 08 and up models also got the rubber plug in the fairing to easily check the oil. I'll add any thing else that comes to mind!!

The new 8v does not need risers as the bars are higher and set back some.

I meet your neighbor Tom, believe that was his name, at my grandson's birthday party last year. Tom and his wife are real nice people.

Hi Glen,

What I meant is that I'm getting confused as to which bike would be better. The 8V or 4.
Actually the later 07's had the bigger rear spring, which I had on both of mine. I fixed the headlight wiring myself when it was first mentioned here on the forum. I did guess by the description of the 8V, that I wouldn't need bar risers. I removed all the lower fairing pieces on my 07's and also fitted a Breva nose piece, so checking the oil was fairly easy. I'm not sure the lowers on the later models was removable in the same way?

Sure, I know Tom and his wife. We spend the winter in Florida, so I'm going to head up to Daytona tomorrow and see if they have a new Norge on display.

Well that's easy, the 8v if you find a good deal. Everyone that has driven both say so. When I was at Redline in Yorktown Va., getting the Rexxer 2 tune downloaded, they had a beautiful white one and tried their best to get me to test drive it. Wanted too but thought better of it. Was trying to keep my wallet somewhat in my pocket! I do love my 09 though and didn't want that to change at the time. I installed the 1.5" risers last year and really do like them. Don't know which model they are, they were used.

No doubt the 8v is better. Is it better at 2x the price? 3x the price? I'll buy an 8v someday, when you all are dumping them like yesterday's news.

Sounds like 4V's are in the 5-6K range and 8V's in the 7-9K, or thereabouts. It doesn't sound like a big difference considering some of these new features.

Plus they are newer hence justification for a higher price. Along with the side benefit of a newer and more powerful engine. Even if you do give up a couple of mpg or so. The T2 Rexxer tune took 2-3 of my mpg just the same and I doubt it is even close to a 8v power wise. My bottom end is much better than it was stock. Heads run cooler too! I really would love to have a white 8v but have mine sorted to suit me. So I try not to even look at them! Good luck on your search.

I have not seen that low a price for an 8v, and I have seen several.  I recently sold my brother's 2012 for him.

Suspect low for one is 8 and up, with the mode being higher.

Winchester Motosports has one on consignment at just below 8.

"2012 Moto Guzzi Norge 1100 (sic; it's a 1200); Priced to sell - well below book! Factory hard bags included. Fresh service. $7,995.00."  Contact info here: http://www.winchestermotosports.com.

I have no connection with the actual seller, but I like Carl and crew at WMS.

Bill

Bill, I spoke to Carl today. Quite a character. I'm considering the Norge he has. Although I'm not real keen on the color white. Thanks for the heads up!

Which make of risers. Will they fit an 8V Norge? I had Mike Bui's on one of my 2007 Norge's, and I think MI's on my second one.

Not sure of the brand but they look really nice on the Breva and first generation Norge. The won't fit the newer models.

So what's that Rexxer tune all about?

I would recommend skipping the Rexxer tune, and going for Guzzidiag and a Beetle tune.  You can easily do it yourself,  and for the cost of a well-earned donation or two.

Cheers,
Shaun

I saw that one. I've been looking at the Stelvio which has some deals all over the country.
The reason, I like the Stelvio over the Norge was, I rode an 08 Norge and didn't like the bar position
and the engine was underwhelming. The Stelvio NTX engine made me smile. Now I find out the newer Norge has a
different, further back location for the handlebars AND the nicer engine, I'm wondering about the Norge again.
Hate buying anything new though especially a 2 year old model with minimal discount.
Anyone have a 13 Stelvio with low miles they want to part ways with?

On a 2015. How many leftover 2012, 2013s there are is one of the things I have noticed about Guzzis. Wholesale on that same bike is roughly $8400.
I am in agreement that that's a lot of motorcycle with a 2 yr warranty for $12k, however in the long run is the difference between 13 and a 2015 worth the
money saved?

To my knowledge, there are no 2015 models available in the US, just leftover 2014s and 2013s. I just bought a leftover 2014 (white). There seem to be several black 2013s around.

I got to check out an 8V at Daytona today, and I'm vey impressed. Lower more comfortable seat, better bar postition without risers, very strong engine, especially in the mid range, and easier to read display compared to my previous two 4V Norge's.

^ I was told by two different dealers just a few weeks ago that there was no news regarding there being any 2015 Norges in the U.S., and they even contacted the mother ship (separately). I told them I would pay more for a 2015, so they and the U.S. Distributor had an incentive to find one for me. Perhaps this ad is in error, or perhaps the mother ship has just released 2015s. Why would Moto Guzzi not want to sell me a 2015 model for thousands of dollars more?

Many of the MG management from New York are at Bike Week. I would have someone that's still in Daytona ask in person before they leave.

Good idea ... at least in theory.

But expecting a straight answer -- or, based upon my experience, any response whatever -- from Piaggio USA is unlikely.  At least some of those suits are [insults deleted after I had another cup of coffee and felt better about life.  :D]

Hmmmmm.  Wonder what year shows on the certificate of origin on my brother's just-ordered Norge?

Who could disagree with that?  I don't.

But, let's see who asks whom what ... and if what the suit say has legs.

Oh, just stopped by WMS on way back from the ear-lowering facility.  That consgned Norge looks mighty fine ... tho I still have eyes for that yellow Royal Enfield cafe Carl has on the floor.   ;D

After leaving WMS, a Virginia state trooper came off I-81 as I passed by the ramp headed home.  I was in the Mini.  He then followed me for six and a half miles on three different (very) back roads.  I was very law-abiding, so he must have been seriously bored. Odd.

Best from the top of Virginia,

Bill

Have seen what you're looking for less than half the price of left over 13s/14s with sub 10k miles (more like 6k original)  on them around here. I like my 13 but there is a lot you can do with 6 grand saved, especially when the used ones have lots of accessories like Corbin seats, new exhausts, riser bars and things like that.

PM'd you.

Exactly!
The Cali dealership had a 2015 Stelvio almost 3 weeks ago when I spoke to them About a leftover 13.
As far as Piaggio and Guzzi America, I did hear that they cleaned house on some bureaucratic 'fat' since Christmas.
