You can show up, but please don't crash!

Anyway, as you probably know, 250 through W. Va. has a considerable amount of truck traffic. Log trucks, coal trucks, whatever. Lots of gravel gets thrown into the curves as a result. It is a nice road but exercise caution.

I look forward to seeing you.

No. For me to get away from the Cleveland area on anything other than interstate going down, I head South for some time. Weather permitting, I intend on taking some nice back roads I have found over time and having a wonderful ride down.

You bringing that derelict Bob??     I'm assuming Tyler is coming along.

Looking forward to seeing you guys.

Tyler is staying home this time since school has just started. I don't know for sure if Bob is coming, or not. I will be traveling on the "Asian Persuasion" and plan to RON in Marietta and come up to Z-ville late Thursday morning. See ya then.

Just a note for anyone going to the Ohio rally for the first time.  Be careful when you pull into the rally registration area.  You will be going from a paved road to gravel, with a decent downhill slope.  Oh, and I recall the paved road being a downhill slope too.  At any rate, I saw two bikes take a low speed nap last year at that spot.  Grabbing the front brake hard to slow for the exit is exciting when the front wheel washes out on you.  Let's hope I remember too!

There is a parking Lot up at the top and if you are going to be a DORM sleeper you might just park there and walk down the steps to the rally area.

The Grounds keeper have tried to level it to make it easier to enter.

I seem to recall some "modifications" to the entrance by the campground staff last year.  Maybe they will get a bit more "proactive" this week before the massive influx!

Was going to ride, but Dorcia wants to come, especially because of Jack and Joan. We'll put the Lario in the van and pull the camper. If I understand correctly, it's $20 a night for us?

Chuck $10 per person per nite for camping in a Pop up or AC Dorm so you are correct.  The Sat breakfast and Dinner are ABOUT $10 for each of you, per meal.  You will walk away with a smile and full tummy from them.

When are you coming is the trailer a 20 foot? there is RV parking up top but who knows the charges.

Thursday is the plan. It's just a little motorcycle pop up camper. A tent space is all we need.

A little helpful info if you are coming off I-70:

Coming from the West, it looks like you would need to get off at exit 154. I would imagine there should be signs to direct you to Route 60. (No exit from West at exit 155.)

From the East, exit 155, which is Route 60.

From there, head North. Follow Route 60, AKA Underwood St. Just after you cross over the river, there will be a curve in the road. Note this is a four lane street. Stay in the right lane. Anyway, just after the curve, you will come up on Linden Ave. I **think** that is the first light after you go over the river. Turn right on Linden and follow it North. It will take you along the edge of town letting you avoid a lot of lights. It will become a country road. The name changes to N. River road, but you do not change roads. (Maybe county road 3 as well.) Keep following it until you hit a T intersection. Turn Left, and make an immediate right. That will be Friendly Hills road and the camp is up maybe a mile or so. If you miss the first drive into the rally site, no worries. The main building and paved parking lot is just up a little further. You can pull in there and turn around, or stop there and assess the situation so you know what is what. (This is all walking distance between these driveways so don't get too worried. Friendly Hills Grange Camp is 7 miles North of Zanesville.

Some finish packing and I'll be off soon. Weather forecast looks favorable so I anticipate a nice ride down avoiding the interstate! Yeah

Also, looks to be warm. Bring your swim trunks. There is a pool for when you decide to cool off a bit. Deep end is 5 feet.

I look forward to seeing everybody!

John Henry

edit: Cell service is pretty much non existent  there but text messages have been known to make it through. If there is anything I can help you with give me a call or text. I'll do the best I can. (See the first post for contact info.)

Well, rats.  Have to back out.

OTOH, it's for a good cause.

Stormtrucker Matt is visiting while "stuck" in Philly.

We'll amble around local roads, annoy Kathi with belching and bench-racing lies, and sample some of my pantry's liquid delights.   :boozing:

You al have as much more-or-less legal fun as doable, too.  Lots is, and many experts at  among you so success is assured.

Best,

Bill

Poor Sara.  She has to put up with my motorcycle addiction.  Brave gal, indeed!  OK, I'm loaded and ready.  Tomorrow at Oh Dark Thirty it's time to kick the tires and light the fires on the valiant V7.  For those of you who are still wage slaves I'll be thinking of you as I blast north on I64, braving the trucks and tourists.  With a RON in Beckley, WV, I expect to slide into the Ohio rally on Friday.  On the good side, I'll have a wee draft of grain to take the edge off from the torrid pace as we sit by the fire exchanging bits of wisdom (lies).  If you can't tell, I'm stoked!

I have a horrible itch to ride 10hrs a day, several days in a row, so sorry guys...
I will have to head to Maine and Vermont to cure it. Took even a passport with me, if it's a foreign itch, so I can cross the border to find cure.  Oh, I want a lobster too.
Have fun!
