"Hey Nineteen, that's 'Retha Franklin.....she don't remember the Queen of Soul..."
Happy birthday 'Retha Also the 71st birthday for Mandolin Virtuoso David Grisman.AND yesterday would have been the 78th birthday for international superstar, Hoyt Axton.Della and The dealer and a dog named Jake_______.
"I don't give a damn about a greenback dollar." Brings back memories. I saw Hoyt play at a very small venue in Charleston WV in 1962/63 timeframe at a private suite at the local Holiday Inn. I went to a small college where a local r&b promoter introduced us to folks who hadn't topped the charts (yet), but were on their way up. He also brought John Lee Hooker to town, where we had the good fortune to listen to JLH, accompanied only by himself, his guitar, and his ever-present foot-stomping providing the bass, as we sat on the floor at the Camelot bar in total awe. Good times! And, yes..... Happy Birthday, Aretha!
