The License Plate Wall
« on: June 23, 2019, 09:15:01 PM »
The basement license Plate wall is coming along quite nicely.

Some nice people came to Cedar Vale and donated another dozen nice tags.

Thanks to everyone else that also donated tags.

You want some of my old ones (10-15 years maybe?) from Iowa? Mostly car, but probably a few bikes as well.   Or do you have a method to your wall?

hahaha   -   no, there's no method to my madness.  I just hang 'em up when I get them.
New, old, whatever.  I am an equal-opportunity license plate collector.

So, yes - donations cheerfully accepted.  I'm good for the shipping.

Anyone wanting to rid themselves of license plates can send them to

Well, let me see what I can scare up.  It would be easier to just drive them down- I live in West County.  We could grab lunch or something...
I'll PM you in a couple of days.

I may have a few out in the garage.  Give me some time as I work an off shift and am not always with the rest of the world.

@Vince in Milwaukee

THANK YOU !

These fine license plates arrived today - and two of them are U.S. Marine Corps Veteran plates.  I especially appreciate these, as I am also an USMC Veteran.

Interestingly enough, I just happened to be wearing my 2018 Wisconsin Rally T-shirt as I opened the mailbox and discovered the loot.

Vince in MKE is especially generous since the cycle plate is a valid plate.

It's hard to believe that in today's world of virtual IDs for cars, and little stickers that you buy once every 3 years, that we used to have to unbolt two metal license plates from our cars (one from our bikes), throw them away, and install 2 new metal plates EVERY YEAR.

We even used to have to bolt a new metal county tax tag onto the car every year.

The license plates on my truck are 20 years old .....

I'm just now realizing that, but it's not a big deal.  If I'm fortunate enough to find another touring bike that suits me (it's off of the R1100RT  that I sold last summer), a new plate runs all of $23 and is good for 2 years.
