Bummer! Definitely an under-rated guitar talent. I remember him from his Hee Haw days, and only learned of his true talent later. Godspeed.

 Was coerced into attending a Roy Clark concert by an attractive young lady , was surprised that during a 90 minute show that about 80 minutes Roy played Jazz mixed with some blues . The man could pick  :bow: Well done sir  :thumb:

I grew up watching and admiring Roy Clark. As a musician myself I realize his talent was amazing as he was not only a guitarist, he could wear the strings off a banjo and fiddle. I'm looking foreword to picking with him someday 🙏

He had Spring dogs (Springer Spaniels) and influenced my choice of a first dog.

Oh and he could pick a little too.

I despise Hee Haw. Had to watch it at my grandparents because that was what was on the one of one channels they got. Love Roy Clark for his musical talent.

Yesterday when I was young,
The taste of life was sweet as rain upon my tongue,
I teased at life as if it were a foolish game,
The way the evening breeze may tease a candle flame;
The thousand dreams I dreamed,
The splendid things I planned
I always built, alas,
On weak and shifting sand;
I lived by night and shunned the naked light of day
And only now I see how the years ran away
Yesterday, when I was young,
So many happy songs were waiting to be sung,
So many wayward pleasures lay in store for me
And so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see,
I ran so fast that time and youth at last ran out,
I never stopped to think what life was all about
And every conversation I can now recall concerned itself with me
And nothing else at all
Yesterday the moon was blue,
And every crazy day brought something new to do,
I used my magic age as if it were a wand,
And never saw the waste and emptiness beyond;
The game of love I played with arrogance and pride
And every flame I lit too quickly, quickly died;
The friends I made all seemed somehow to drift away
And only I am left on stage to end the play
There are so many songs in me that won't be sung,
I feel the bitter taste of tears upon my tongue,
The time has come for me to pay for Yesterday
When I was Young
Yesterday, when I was young,
So many happy songs were waiting to be sung,
So many wayward pleasures lay in store for me
And so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see,
I ran so fast that time and youth at last ran out,
I never stopped to think what life was all about
And every conversation I can now recall concerned itself with me
And nothing else at all

My favorite was always "Thank God and Greyhound" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tx8x3LCnYZw

Reminds me a bit of my short, unhappy marriage.

Sad to hear the news...god speed Roy Clark.

One of the first musicians that I remember being in total awe of purely by because of his ability to play anything with strings...helped me realize guitarists can play banjo and mandolin and bass and fiddle and so on

I still have "and play" my vinyl copy of "The Lightning Fingers of Roy Clark"

thanks for the post I'll listen to him tonight

The banjo picking he did was incredible as well.  Heck, ANY instrument for that matter.

Circa 1997ish. Roy was also an avid motorcycle rider and he led a Toys for Tots run in Joplin Missouri. I was on that run and got to see him, but not meet him.  That was a cold, fun, yet heavily attended Toy run thanks to Roy.
