The owner asked me if I could post this here:
HMB-GUZZI is now HMB-MOTO
as of today, we have changed our internet access as well as our email addresses.
The shop itself will remain unchanged, the existing customer/login data will continue to apply.
The new shop address: www.hmb-moto.de
The new email address: info@hmb-moto.de

Is this due to MG getting their knickers in a twist over the use of the word Guzzi?
-
I got an e-mail from them on Saturday. Now MOTO, no longer GUZZI
I then read about Piaggio strong arm on LeMans forum.
-
Yes Piaggio rented a lawyer to disallow the Moto Guzzi or Guzzi word in Domains and website names. Since I have the domain fastguzzi.nl, I got a letter too. Won't be long before Wildgoose gets a letter too. Even RadicalGuzzi who are servicepartner aren't allowed to keep their name. Guzzitech too I understand.
-
In the long term Piaggio are crucifying there own advertising and making the brand harder to see . Get the name out there for the world to see

Agreed but you cannot cure stupid

This comes up often when people point at entertainment industry brands, bands, video game companies, etc. for suing "the little guy" and hurting their fan base.
A problem with trademark enforcement is that it cannot be selectively enforced, doing so risks losing the trademark. The same is not true for copyright enforcement.

In UK there is a one man business and he is very well known for being a Ducati guru.
He called himself Ducati John...until Ducati sent him a letter.

In Australia there is a company that makes pasta, called Guzzi, after all Carlo wasn't the only guy in Italy with the surname. Be interesting to see how this plays out, in the same spirit I recently brought a Ferrari, if I want it to go faster I lift the plough.

Ridiculous - it's not as if many of these smaller enterprises are even in competition with Big Brother Guzzi
Still Urban Directory had a couple of definitions that made me smile https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Guzzi
Guzzied
A technique used by as**holes in middle management positions to steal credit for themselves and/or unfairly ascribe blame to others, whereby the as**hole gives a discreet verbal or non-verbal directive to a co-worker to refrain from participation in a transaction, occurrence or event followed thereafter by a public proclamation that the co-worker was incompetent (or unathletic) because the co-worker heeded the ambitious asshole's directive and refrained from such participation.
Hey, I just heard that Mick told the CEO that Bob just sat at the table and said nothing while he negotiated the whole deal. But Bob told me that Mick told him he should just sit at the table and not say anything. Now Mick just got a sweet promotion and is moving to Conley.
Dude, Bob got Guzzied so hard.

I like it. It's great when slang over takes the original meaning of words.
"He got Guzzied?"
"Yep, they shoved right up his Piaggio!"

y'know the could learn The Dead. Bobby Weir said they pretty much invented "viral marketing". Guzzi corporate is throwing all what little good will is left into the trash.
