General Discussion / Re: NEW 1985 LeMans IV 1000...« Last post by Antietam Classic Cycle on Today at 04:40:32 PM »I like rebuilding calipers, these probably do not have the later anodized aluminum pistons so, all new of those and seal kits. Boom. If they have a single bleeder, then most likely they have anodized alloy pistons. Easy to double check - pull the pads and fish a magnet down past the disk. 13
General Discussion / Re: How do you want your ABS?« Last post by Huzo on Today at 04:35:01 PM »We're hitting on the point there. One used to make those decisions regarding timing and oiling, just as one would make the decisions of pumping the brakes. At some point it was decided that it was better left to an automated mechanical system to handle oiling, and centrifugal weights or an ECU's programming to automatically handle timing at various engine speed. One day the ABS may be better at those computing skills than yourself, and depending on the bike and the terrain, it probably already is better at those computing skills than many riders.ABS is already “better” than me at it’s intended task, but I choose to attend to that task. A bit like a porn star is better at “spending the night” with my partner… But if someone’s gotta’ do it…? I’d like it to be me… 14

General Discussion / Re: New V7 Sport« Last post by Dr. Enzo Toma on Today at 04:25:00 PM »Well, decided by Piaggio, the owner of Moto Guzzi, it is called the V7 Sport and they have the authority to call it that.
It happens to all brands and models that evolve or are brought back. Trust that there are plenty of Harley-Davidson, Royal Enfield, Triumph, Honda, Kawasaki, etc enthusiasts who have also been put off by old model names being re-applied to later models. 17

General Discussion / Re: New V7 Sport« Last post by Walton on Today at 04:09:30 PM »To even bring power figures into the argument is infantile anyway, the most powerful street Guzzi made, is still a lily livered piece of anaemic crap in the spectrum of Sportbike performance. That's awesome. Just don't call it a v7 sport. Because the, real, v7 sport had a very virtuous timesheet when new. 19
General Discussion / Re: Any Dellorto PHM 40 experts here...? Diagram parts list needed« Last post by Frenchfrog on Today at 04:08:59 PM »The PHM's come in several flavors :
- flat top or the dome top with a crank lever as in the drawing -Dome top types can either have an internal cable connecting the lever to the slide or a rod link . This importer for dellorto in the UK has got good photos of the various parts here https://www.dellorto.co.uk/product-category/dellorto-motorcycle-carburettors-parts/carburettor-parts/phm-parts/ -The dome tops give a really heavy pull so many convert them to flat top 20
