Looking forward to the meetup. Watching the weather. I'll be there if it's not raining much. Always enjoyed the event.

General Discussion / Re: NGC Reg/rec unit failures
« Last post by Wayne Orwig on May 31, 2023, 05:56:24 PM »
With engine running, reg/rec connected, the voltage from the stator wires at 5000 ~ 6000 rpm is 60 V AC

So the regulator is not passing the output to the battery.
Bad diodes, bad thyristors, or not wired right.
Sounds like you need a different regulator.

Sixth Annual MGNOC New England Spring Fling

Sweet Evalina's Roadside Stand
688 Route 169
Woodstock, CT 06281
www.sweetevalinas.c om

Come to the Northeast corner of Connecticut to celebrate the "new" New England riding season! As usual, we'll park across the street on our own in the Post Office (closed Sunday) parking lot. Stop by, see old friends, make some new ones, kick tires, see all the latest and greatest Guzzis (if you haven't seen a V100 Mandello yet, I'm sure there'll be at least one there)...and have Lunch!

Come as your schedule permits. No need to be there at exactly 10.

CT-RI MGNOC State Rep.

P.S. -- as always, we bill these as Moto Guzzi "and More" events. So if you can't get there on a Guzzi, just run what you brung.

Sept 7-10 in Utah could fit my schedule. As it turns out I need to be in Boulder for a wedding on Sept 30 and that will have to be a Subaru trip because Gail needs to navigate.

I'll rethink this and try to make it to Roy's shindig.

General Discussion / Re: V700 touring?
« Last post by Antietam Classic Cycle on May 31, 2023, 02:57:44 PM »
Antietam Classic Cycle tours on them and has no issues!!

I put 70k miles on my (early) '69 Ambo (like a V700 with 54 cc more displacement) without any real problems. Only left me stuck one time when the points burned and I did have my spares with me. My friends Blaine and Lance got me out of that jam. I don't get anywhere any more quickly on my newer bikes - never was a "fast" rider - I'd rather take the "road less traveled" and enjoy the trip.

I'm determined to get it out of "dry dock" this Summer and start putting miles on it again. The only reason why it was in storage in the first place was because I built a V700 to ride!

You sure can on a Loop.

I had to work at keeping pace with Nick and his Eldo.    NJ to VA Rally a few years ago.

I tour on my V700s, why not? They are good for 70 MPH cruising speed. will do 60 easily all day long, once you get used to the sounds that come out of them, wear ear plugs as the whining of the gearbox and timing gears may drive you mad.  DonG
