Just because the government paid that much for it doesn't mean it is worth that much.

They've only recently been made surplus AFAIK. I wondered how long it would be before they started showing up for sale.

I'd love to have one. I don't think I'd pay that much, though.

Yeah , only it doesn't matter if it gets 100 MPG , because it will only run about 40 MPH , on level ground , with a 10 MPH tailwind , with Shayna Texter riding it

$18,000 ,       Sure .

I was just hearing one run on you tube, man those bikes are noisy! I think in the future, stealthy, electric bikes will be what the special forces use. Still a cool bike, that would probably be a blast to own, just for the weirdness factor!

Our police dept has I think six of them, but they don't use them.  Got them last year on some kind of surplus deal for free.

On a half-hour test ride, the M103M1, though sluggish at first, gathered speed with dogged insistence. The footpegs and handlebars buzz as the engine revs - the counterbalancer that controls vibration in the stock KLR has been omitted to save weight and reduce complexity. Shifting through the five-speed gearbox gets the M103M1 past 90 miles an hour, a speed it will hold, apparently, until the end of time.

OK, OK , may have been exaggerating a bit . Of course it may have taken the entire 30 minutes to see 90 MPH

Yes, but that was without Shayna.
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

If it's anything like the diesel Royal Enfield  the vibration alone will set off any IED's within a 100 yard radius.

Interesting link, Charlie, thanks for posting that! I bet one of those would be cool for an off road sidecar rig, being a diesel,it should have alot of torque. can it run on regular diesel fuel you buy at the corner station?
Rick.

AFAIK, it'll run on pump diesel, plus JP-8, biodiesel and #2 heating oil (which is basically non-taxed diesel).
