Cinncinnatti Bike Show
« on: January 01, 2019, 06:49:26 PM »
Wanted to highlight a Bike Show coming up soon.

Garagebrewed. A bike show on January 26th at the Rhinegeist Brewery in Cinncinnatti.

http://garagebrewed.com/

And they have a FB page with the same name.

Rather than a big convension hall event this is, from what I'm reading, a smaller low key show with a mix of old new rare custom & chopped.

Entry fee is Guzzi affordable ; free. And it's held at a Brewery ! For me a no brainer. Just need a kitchen pass & I'm all set  :boozing:

Yep, this is my favorite show of the year, I'll definitely be there.  Looking through my pictures from last year I see at least one Guzzi, a '75 850T custom racer.  There was also a cool Goldwing café racer, some nice custom BMW's and about 100 other bikes.  You can check out the website to see all of the best bikes from previous shows.  Cadre was there with several bikes 2 yrs ago and I think they had a V7 they were raffling off last year.  Look at bikes, have a couple beers, maybe buy a t-shirt, it's a good use of a late January day in the Midwest.

This is a great show that I'm planning to attend, again.  The Rhinegeist Brewery (venue) is in the Over the Rhine District of Cincy.  The area has a nice, new light rail train that can take you all around the OTR, as well as a decent-sized parking garage near the train.  Lots of places to eat/drink.

While Rheingeist is a microbrew, their facility is housed in what was once one of the major regional brewers of "Old School Swill" - Hudepohl, Schafly, or one of those. So it's a large space, with the brew equipment taking up only a fraction. The rest is beer hall and bikes, in several rooms on multiple levels.

I mention this for the benefit of those unfamiliar, since many breweries are just holes in the wall.

Something for everyone - cafe'd bikes of all flavors, dirt trackers, vintage euro restos, ADV, and of course the obligatory chopper or two.

For out-of-towners that are going, any idea where to stay (stumbling distance from the show?)

No hotels within walking distance. Your best bet will be to grab something downtown and take the streetcar. It stops at Rheingeist's front door

I'm a fan of The Netherland. Grand old art deco hotel at the Carew Tower right off fountain square.

Schlafly old school swill? In Cincy?
Nope, they are in St. Louis and have only been around less than 30 years.
And they make some dam fine beers.

Ok, looked it up. It was Christian Moerlein

https://rhinegeist.com/culture/our-story/

Moerlein was revived a few years ago as the brew scene heated up, and has pretty good distribution in these parts. Not bad!

Hey everyone near Cinti.  The Easyriders show is today.  I know that no one in this group will want to miss that.
