2012 California 90 production quantity?
« on: May 07, 2018, 04:25:44 AM »
Does anyone know for a fact how many of the last Cali 90s were made? Even better, how many were brought to the states? I was told only 100 were made but I saw #114  on line. Thanks for any help.

Not very many, not enough. They are nice and go for good $$.  There is one on the MGNOC classifieds for cheap as compared to what most want. AND it's low mileage.

When I bought mine the number I heard floating around was 140 total, 40 in the U.S.  I don't remember where I heard that and would admit those figures are hearsay at best.  Interestingly enough, all of the models I've seen in the U.S. have been numbered in the lower 100's (#100 to ~130).  Mine is #109.  So maybe there is a grain of truth to those figures.

They're rare enough to not be listed in many motorcycle websites and databases.  For example, my insurance company (GEICO) doesn't even recognize the model. I had to list it as a California Vintage.

Obviously rarity does not equal value though.  They are basically just repainted California Vintages and seem to sell for around the same price.  I bought mine to keep forever because I wanted the last of the original California 1100's and I like the flashy paint scheme.

Sorry if I'm 'jacking the thread, but is there a decent, reliable source of production numbers on any of our beloved Guzzis, especially the older Tonti bikes ('70's & '80's)?  Searching both here & googly didn't get me anywhere....

ha ha ha....wait, this is not April 1st.

It can be a struggle with Guzzi's. I know it was when I was trying to research my 77 Lemans. They weren't the most diligent it seems.

And what seems so totally contrary is that I can name the site, date of manufacture, and how many were made in the year of 1942 for my Walther P38. Those records are very detailed.

If the format floats your boat, consider a black California Vintage instead. They come with polished stainless fenders instead of the painted ones (the painted ones may or may not be stainless). Everything else is the same, excepting the paint and seat cover.

I had a 94 California, was my first Guzzi. I like the Cal Vin's just fine, mostly the white but they are hard to find too. I would buy a later model with lower miles for sure.
