72 Eldorado doing what it does best (video)
« on: December 05, 2020, 02:45:56 PM »
Sit back, relax, grip those imaginary handlebars to help me work my way down this rather enjoyable, if a trifle bumpy track, while my Guzzi trundles along through the back woods of eastern Ontario.

I don't anticipate many viewers making it all the way through all 18 minutes, but if you do, you may be feeling sorry for my old bike.

Never fear, she's a robust old girl and completely used to this kind of treatment.

"I don't anticipate ...."  Well, who can turn down a challenge like THAT?

Been a long time (1999) since I only kept one bike at a time and used it for every kind of riding.    These days, I'd take a Loopframe on a road like that IF I were on a trip somewhere and that was the only way across the hill, or I just got lost and was heading home, but as for starting out on it with an intent for gravel riding, I'd surely pick something else!

Fun to sit on the tank and ride along, though.   Sort of like Frank Wedge's little dog.

I didn't intend it that way, but hey, if it works.........   From my Youtube analytics and from my own Youtube behaviour, I know we tend to act like gadflies - a few frames here, a minute or two there unless something really catches our attention.  My most popular videos average about 50% viewer retention, which I think is spectacular.

As for the Eldo - it may not be the best bike for the job, but it's the best bike for my job.  I just like riding it, no matter where.

Stay well.

That was very nice. I owned your bike's close relative, and spent some time riding it just as you did. I'm grinning from ear to ear. Thank you.

That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

Wonderful old bike!  This type of "off road" riding is about as severe as I see myself taking on going into my old age.  I am glad to see the the Eldo handles it with aplomb.

If for some reason I had to pare down to just one bike my Eldo would fit the bill quite well.

Nice back road ramble! There's a two mile dirt road in East Haddam going into the backside of Salem that I often use as a shortcut. My Cal doesn't mind it a bit. I took my friend Joey on his EV11 down it once and he said afterward that he was scared spitless. Go figure.

Nice ride Nick! I tip my hat. I think I would be on my KLR for that road but knowing where have you gone on your trusty Eldorado that little stretch of gravel and dirt is like crossing a parking lot for you.
