Uni-go and 1400 California Touring
« on: April 24, 2016, 07:34:56 PM »
Is there a Uni-go trailer hitch available for a 1400 California Touring?  I contacted Uni-go a few weeks ago inquiring about a hitch for my 1400 and they said they would research and advise.  So far, no news.  Anyone with a 1400 who has installed a Uni-go hitch?  I need a small, one-wheeled trailer because of minimal storage space.  Appreciate the assistance.

I checked Classic Industries in Australia.  They make hitches for lots of Guzzi's.  I saw a Norge hitch, but not a Cal. 14.
You might shoot them an email and see if something is in the pipeline.

There is a Dutch hitch.  So it can be done.

If you have a good welding shop, or a friend who is a wiz at fabricating, hitches are not hard to make.
The lower arm is usually bolted to the footpeg mounts.  The upper arm runs from the top of the shock mounts.

I Googled "Trailer Hitch Fabrication" for Denver and came up with several names.

Maybe get some close ups of the Dutch hitch for ideas.
Then ask them to see what they can do.

A Unigo/Cali. 1400 is so rare you are going to have to find a welder to fabricate it for you.   BTW, I have a Unigo with a hitch for a Tonti Guzzi & VX800 Suzuki made specifically for me when I bought the trailer new back in `01.

I sent an email to the Dutch trailer hitch maker.  I also followed up with Uni-go.  Skip, in sales at Uni-go offered to check (again) and to find out if they happen to have a hitch for the 1400 California Touring.  If none of those leads pan out, I'll check with a local custom hitch fabricator.  Thanks for all those that replied.  I'll post when I have found a hitch.

When you get it done, send a pic.  The egg shape of the UniGo should compliments the Cal 14 lines.
