JN Smyth
« on: January 30, 2015, 06:51:09 PM »
Hi to all:
I just found out from a good friend that JN Smyth is in the hospital but doing better and may get to go home (Kiowa OK) soon.  I'll try to get more info tomorrow and add to the post.  all I know now that the hosp. # is 918 426 1800 and he is in room315.  JN is a hero to me,  and has more oldest rider awards from Guzzi rallies  than anyone I know.

I heard he was admitted for dehydration a while back. I hesitated to post anything due to having HIPPA rules shoved down my throat from the hospital I work for.

J.N. is ONE HELL OF A MAN!

I'm proud to say I know the man!

I know 1 thing for sure, JN has lived longer than I will no matter what happens now.  ;-T   Saw him @ the Datil rally this last August.  He hasn't changed a bit since I 1st met him in the `90s.  :bow

Hope the best for JN. They don't make them like him anymore. He always makes the Kansas rally. Bet he will make this years.

It's a bad day when two of my favorite people are in the hospital at the same time. I hope to see both of them this summer!

Yup, he did!!

I just spoke with him. he is doing good and hopes to walk out of the hospital in a few days. Says he just had a birthday and is now 93!

We had a good chat, and as I write this, I'm really missing my old friend.

I also spoke with JN today,  he was upbeat and mentioned the phone call from Germany.  However said it would take a week of therapy to get himself mobile enough to go home.

"Get Well Soon, JN!" ;-T 8)

I too, have seen and talked to him the last few years at the Datil Rally in NM.  I always shake his hand and tell him he is my hero!  Still "In-The-Wind" at 93! (just had a birthday!!)  God Bless Him! :)

Hello again
I Spoke with JN today and he is being discharged from the hospital.  Still has some problem with kidneys but can manage that at home he says.
I don't think he would mind my giving out his home phone # to motorcyclists, it's 918 432 5451.

Going to take more than that to stop him. But at 93; I'd say he should probably get a smaller scooter but he wouldn't fit the damn thing.

He is an inspiration for sure. Looks like he is in his early 70's.

When I met JN at Steve Walker's rally, he was wearing a long sleeve shirt and jeans in high heat and was dry as a bone.  I was a pool of sweat in shorts and flip flops.   I told him that I saw his John Day video video on You Tube.  He replied, "What is You Tube?"

The conversation progressed to Harley bashing, dirty jokes and drinking.

He had a 650 Burgman and sold it to his riding buddy who isn't riding any more after the Burgy fell on him.  I let JN ride my 250 MP3 @ John Day and he liked it but he's way too big for a MP3.  :D
