No thanks. I'll be where there's almost no traffic, much less noise and far fewer people that weekend (Cass, WV).

There are ways of honoring our veterans without dealing with herds of Hogs or going anywhere near Washington, D.C...

Just another excuse for that sort of "rider" to make noise, IMHO.

I have to say that I'm with the other guys.   I honor our veterans as much as anyone can, and I DO care.    But I'm done with anything having to do with motorcycles that has "Rumbling", "Roaring", or "Thunder" in the name.  It gives us all a bad name, and perpetuates a stereotype that I'm not part of.

I ride my Guzzi on US29 on that day each year, up to Culpeper National Cemetery to decorate my parents' graves (My Dad was a sailor from 1945 - 1965).   But there's no way I want to ride with that LOUD obnoxious crowd up to Washington to sit in a crowd of people blipping their throttles.

Sorry.

Over 100,000 harleys and Geezer on his Guzzi. The percentages look about right...

I ride a lot with the Patriot Guard Riders and am often the only person not on a Harley or Goldwing.   There was actually one mission where a gentleman showed up on a California 1400.  Wow - 2 Guzzis.   That was most unusual and we made the best of it.

Sounds great- and out of all those Harleys- how many will look the other way, refuse to wave, or give you the "your bike is crap" because it's not 'Murican" line?

Geezer- I don't mean to rain on your parade- the getting there will be a great adventure- go for it. I should admit that I do not like group rides of over four people.  I absolutely would not want to be jammed in the middle of a blatting, farting horde of the "Live to Ride, Ride to Live" clan...

Everyone's expressing their opinion in as nice and even apologetic way as they can .... being as respectful as possible to the opinion of the OP.

What more are you asking for?

But no one is even suggesting that Geezer NOT do it, or trying to stop him from doing it.   He has complete freedom to ride wherever he wants.   And he came to WG and said "Who's up for this?"

Why is having a different opinion than someone else has "Being negative?"   It's just a different opinion, and a response to a question that was asked.

No issue with the difference of opinion , but the Geezer wasn't asking for advice , merely if anyone else was interested . Guessing he probably already knows it will be populated by"loud and obnoxious" types .

And "-phobe".  If there's something going on that you don't agree with, and you say so, the PC overseers will take whatever it is you don't like and tack "-phobe" to it, and try to use that as some sort of perjorative against you to stifle dissent to the Party line.

In this case it would be "phono-tubo-phobe", I suppose?   Fear of noisy pipes.

So... come up with a better term for describing what happened here .

Let me try a different tact . Suppose you were in attendance at a small motorbike gathering where you were the only Guzzi rider . Someone says " I've always wanted to attend a Guzzi gathering , looks like fun" . The response from the other attendees is " Why the hell would you want to do that , bunch of old overly opinionated geezers hanging around a camp fire" . Would you at least not tell the person to come on and experience a Guzzi gathering?

 Dusty

Edit . Isn't PC new speak ?

That's a PRIME analogy of exactly what's happening here!    ;-T

First of all, a Guzzi rally really IS a bunch of old overly opinionated geezers hanging around a camp fire  ;)  :D , just like Rolling Thunder IS a lot of noisy Harleys and Harley-clones parading in a huge look-alike crowd!    Your normal Guzzi rider is NOT going to want to ride in that kind of environment, regardless of the goodness of the cause it supports, and I wouldn't expect them to.

And (conversely) most "Motorcycle Rally Goers" want burn-out contests, mud-wrestling, titty shows, acres of chrome, and a personal appearance from the Teutels or someone.  They are NOT going to want to go and sit around a campfire talking old bikes and old times in their red suspenders and go to bed at midnight, and I wouldn't expect them to.

I guess maybe WG isn't a "Rolling Thunder" venue.    Just like the "Satan's Wild Hog Slaves" clubhouse wouldn't be the place to advertise the Guzzi National rally ... ?

As usual, no, no matter what follows.

I may very well go on a motorcycle tour of Southeast Asia, even though I've never experienced it before.   I will likely not sign on as Towel Boy on a Turkish tramp steamer, no matter how I'm encouraged.
