Post what you learn from Sargeant. Others (me) have the same problem.
since i live in your area, i would love to meet you somewhere to see it once you have it.
OEM seats are built to such a low standard I can't imagine that they would be a qualifier, or not, for purchase.Sargent does a good job on seats shaped like the 85. It would be a good place to start.
The seat comes close for me, but not perfect. I removed the butt stop and that allows a little sliding room. It's pretty good with a sheepskin but that throws off the angle to the bars for me and makes it sit even higher which is not the best situation for me. So a very well shaped standard or lower height seat could make a lot of difference. I have ridden mine over 18,000 and that is really the only complaint I have and it is a minor one.
I tested a V85 a month ago or so, and I REALLY wanted to love it......and I did LIKE it....it is a good bike and super cool like Moto Guzzis in general. But it was realistically twice the price of my Strom and the Strom is paid for and set up perfectly for me and it is an excellent lightweight tourer. The prospect of paying $13 or $14k for a bike and still having to shell out another $600 for a good seat is just too much for me to justify. If the seat were good.........well that would be a problem!Scott
I have the MG tall seat and I took off the bump pad too then added a sit n fly cover. Works perfect for me. YMMV even the stock seat was OK for me as long as the bump pad is removed. Removing it gives more room, makes for a slightly curved bucket in the rear and makes it easy to slide up on passenger area to stretch.
thank you for posting that picture. it looks just a little wider where you would want it to be wider. i guess this was a custom build for them, can you say how much it cost? BTW, you are too late for the Cadre raffle if you did not buy a ticket. I remember the first time it took about 6 months to sell all the tickets. this time 8 days.
That seat looks good and the price was right. And the Sit&Fly (or copy) covers are amazing........a gamechanger for me on my V Strom(that and the footpeg lowering kit). Hope it works out for you. Scott
Maybe we will meet up at the drawing.
Is the Sargent seat lower than the stock seat?
So you've had the Sargent for a few months now... What's the verdict?
