New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
For comparison sake, the much-modified and -lightened World Record 750cc(+/-) Ambassadors used 38mm remote bowl Dellortos SS1 carbs. No matter, I don't place much if any faith in old speedometers.
In the 'V700 for touring' thread there is a bit of discussion about highway cruising speeds. That got me wondering, whats the top speed you've seen on a loop? I swear my Ambo runs great. It's more-or-less stock 750 with dellortos (new cylinders of course), but it has a B10 cam, MAC exhaust (no crossover), and foam filters instead of airbox. my top speed is maybe 75 indicated. I know a loop is not doing the ton, but I am surprised it cant do 80-90 (not that the brakes are up to the challenge). My bike seems to run super (only loop I've ever ridden). It sounds good, throttle response seems spot-on all across the range. Plugs look perfect, sounds just like it should. I'm certain the brakes arent dragging...Does that sound correct to you, or does that sound like a red flag?
Yor engine likely needs tuning ,main jets and timing. If the cam is too advanced the engine will be good at lower rpm but be a dog at higher engine speeds..
The Eldorado Automatic. The bike the factory built but never sold to the public, so I had to build it myself. This bike was timed at El Mirage Dry Lake by the SCTA at ~116 MPH. Hence I claim the title, "Worlds Fastest Guzzi Automatic".upload images for free
A good run Mtiberio ! Had this Cali 2 as you see it in the photo. Ran decent on the street, a high mileage stock engine. Made several runs at 117 mph at the mile standing start track in Ohio timed by the ECTA ..
Well... If we are talking 5 speeds, ~142 class record at El Mirage.
Sounds like I need a much longer runout.. I'm gonna be thinking about this til next spring
When new and stock V700 went 105,,Ambassador went 115,v7 Sport 125,according to Faloon in his recent book.
