How to Remove Ignition Switch 2014 California
« on: November 16, 2021, 01:44:12 PM »
I need to remove the ignition switch but can't figure out how to remove the security plug/pin that's on the left side of the mounting bracket in place of a bolt. I already tried drilling it out, but won't come off and I'm afraid I might damage something if I keep drilling.
Any suggestions?

I just grabbed it with vise grips on the flat.

You have the switch go out on yours too?

Maybe try a little bit of heat.  Mine went out on me about 800 miles away from home.  We found if we twisted it to the on position VERY slowly we could find a spot where it would be on.  I would just keep the key in that spot and made it all the way home.  I found one on Ebay and just swapped out the bottom as was mentioned in the other thread. Then you don't have to worry about the key and the security system.

Thanks. Heat is definitely what it needed.
