MUNICIPAL PARK CAMPING DIRECTORY
« on: March 18, 2015, 12:38:24 PM »
Years ago, four of us trekked, on the cheap, to the opening of Barber.  An acquaintance used a directory of municipalities which permitted overnight camping in public parks.  Aside from getting a soaked once from automatic sprinklers, the system was convenient and inexpensive (like no expensive.)

I do not know the name of the publication and I've been unsuccessful Googling it.  Is anyone aware of that book/guide?

Should you find the list please share.  Currently I try to plan and estimated destination for the night and Google the town to see in public camping is available.  Sometimes, not often, camping is free.

Hey a question I can answer how about that.

The book might be Don Wright's  "Guide to Free Campgrounds".  I bought mine from Aerostich but they do not list it on their website right now.

It is only $1 used from www.abebooks.com.

I've been using one for many years, very handy to have.

Aerostich still sells "Camping with the Corps of Engineers" which is an excellent directory also.

Good luck with your trip.

Wow - I didn't know that such opportunities still existed. I'll have to get a copy.
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

Here's a site that I got from someone over at MotoCampers.com:

http://www.uscampgrounds.info/

It has all types of campgrounds listed, and a pretty good description of what facilities are offered.
