Good Day for Aprilia in Moto GP
« on: April 14, 2024, 05:36:10 PM »
I know that there are a few of us here that follow the sport, not many.   Will wait awhile to get specific about the race at COTA today to
not spoil it for those who haven't watched.  It was an excellent.

Yes it was a good day for them. Something I discovered when the new MotoGp season started this year, is that you can watch all the races live on HBO/MAX.

Wait, there are people out there who don’t LOVE Moto GP?

If you like racing, hard to imagine Moto GP wouldn't be at the top of your list.
The level of fighting for positions through the whole race was insane. And the first 10-12 stayed within 3 seconds of each other long into the race.
Day of firsts:  1. Vinales first Moto GP rider to win on three different manufacturers bikes 1. Yamaha  2. Suzuik 3. Aprilia
2. Pedro Acosta first rookie to make it to the podium 2 times in the first 3 races of his rookie season.  (I think that is what the announcers said)

Great ride by Vinales to fight back from a poor start from pole to 11th on the first lap.  It was inspiring to watch.
Was great to see MM at the front and competitive again.  Pity he tucked the front but mentally & physically he is back at the front where he
belongs.  Would have been fun to watch the last 5 laps with Vinales if Marquez but still there was so much good riding going on.
Looks like Acosta has condensed his first year Moto GP learning curve into 3 races.  He is ready to compete.

Sorry if I spoiled this for anyone.  Couldn't help myself.  Long as I could wait.

That's ok, I was kind of waiting for Cameron's report on Cycle World. Just the title gave it away. Nothing against Ducati but nice to see other brands in the hunt. I have become a MotoGP fan as of late. Getting exciting.

I'm glad (and not surprised) that we have a bunch of race fans here!
But in the future, if people would be more vague in the title and add "Spoiler Alert", then it wouldn't ruin the race for those who haven't watched it yet.
This should be the protocol for any race event, I think.
Luckily I watched this one live, but when there is an F1 race and a MotoGP race on the same weekend, I'll usually watch MotoGP on Monday.

Cheers!

I liked the 500 era better than today's MotoGP, and also the early days of the MotoGP era. Today, there is good racing, but all the gizmos and wings and ride height devices detract greatly from the show, just as with F1, which I haven't bothered to watch in years. Give the control back to the riders and eliminate traction control, ride height, launch control and winglets. Please.
