I've decided to replicate the look of the vintage V7 Sport from my V50 III.

Here's a mock up photo to illustrate my plan. Stay tuned its gonna be fun.

I miss my old V50. Such a groovy, versatile little bike. I had this one in 4 or 5 different guises. So easy to work on.

Beautiful job, Jim! That's a fine-looking bike....

I noticed that you appear to be running no center stand, but a side stand that is completely different than the "hair-trigger" OEM side stand fitted to the V50 and V50 II. Is that an aftermarket part or a V50 III OEM side stand? If it's something you fitted, where did you get it? I'm almost afraid to use the side stand on my V50 II because it retracts instantly and forcefully at the slightest contact with the bike. I am definitely in the market for a better side stand and yours looks great!

(On second look, I see your bike does in fact have a center stand - good idea!!)

Thanks for the compliments. I t was a fun project and I can't wait to my next ride, only a few days away. Yes I retained the center stand, although a hefty lift. The side stand is original V50III as far as I know and no issues with rapid retraction. It has twin spings if that helps identify the difference from stock V50III and V50II or other iterations.

Hi Jim,

The bike looks very nice! Well done, there is just one bit that distracts from the nice overall picture. IMHO the seat should retain the flat bottom profile all the way to the end instead of the upwards angle. And the passenger handle too. Maybe it looks better in real life, but it looks a bit funny on the pictures.

Anyway I'm sure it is a hoot to ride and you can't see the seat when you are sitting on it

I am having my v7 sport project painted with the Alien2 color as well. The painter thinks it is very close to the original green.

Thanks for your comments. Remember this project was a tribute bike not a replication of a V7 Sport. The v50III seat is what it is and that's the way it is mounted and constructed (The upward angle is the design of the seat pan)

A fun project and fun to ride. To replicate a V7 Sport it would be cheaper to just buy one than reverse engineer

True true, Sometimes it is better to know when to stop instead of spending more to make a replica than it would cost to buy one

Its the re-pop as listed.. I cut the front puck brackets and the rear half hoop and brazed them to the new tank
