First ride back on the Norge after the doc cleared me again to ride.  That always makes it a good day.  Got fitted for my bone stimulator, get your mind out of the gutter, it for the fusion in my spine! :D  Ride to work again tomorrow.  So far so good.  Looking forward to next Thursday.

My day sucked. Some days, it's not worth getting out of bed.

I know how you feel, had more than one of those days before.  Some weeks have had five Mondays in them. ::(

Beauty eh!

I turned 62 today but I still feel like a twenty five year old.  After riding 800 miles in the previous two days (up to the International Rally and back) on a 41 year old bike, neither I nor the bike showed any ill effects today.

Friend Dave turned up unexpectedly to show off his BMW R90S.  I hauled the 750S out of the garage and we went for a bit of a spin, swapping bikes along the way.  Great stuff. I wanted to set off across the country on the R90S - it seemed to encourage big distances.

Eldest son bought me a bunch of craft beer.  Guess what I'm doing now.  A good day.

Happy B-day Nick . 62 is the new 40 , or I keep telling myself that . The R90S does seem to encourage some high speed long distance work . Tip one for me and have a great evening .

Some dipshyte put a self adhesive mounted GPS on his sidecar today to find out the possible speedometer error. It went tumbling into the 2 feet tall weeds along the side of the road. $100 bucks gonzo.  Oh BTW, bike reads 6 MPH too fast. :)

Anything handmade is.  But they do all the fitting before applying paint, trim, and sealer.  When my accomplished carpenter said the back panels were ready to finish, I assumed he'd checked to see if they fit together.  He had not.  He'd placed each side panel and drilled index holes for final placement, but he never put the door in place between them to see if the size and shape was right.  He was always bitching at me for micromanaging him so I'd left him to his superior carpentry skills.

My day was great. I rode from Scotts Bluff, Nebraska to Cody, Wyoming. Spent a solid 20 minutes at 90 to 95 mph on one stretch of road. Spent a lot of time at 80 to 90. Covered 400 miles in reasonable time. Would have been better, but there were very long delays for road construction. I rode thru Wind river canyon also. That was a good ride. Tomorrow its  Chief Joseph and Beartooth. Now I am hunkered in a hotel. The rain should be gone soon. Maybe.

Yuck. The day before, I was prepping the new old airplane for an extended camping trip when I found an airworthiness issue. It looked like a major problem, and I called a Piper guru that I know well. He looked at it and told me a way to get the tail apart without having to level and re rig it. Spent all day in the hanger doing that in 90 degree heat . Sweat off 3 lbs.  ;D

Dusty,

You are so kind to ask!

This past week I performed most of my medical check up cycle:  dermatologist (no issues-no skin cancer-;), then dentist (nice and clean, no need for more crowns yet-;), then major physical with Dr. Saw-Bones yesterday.  The physical is a drag due to fasting required and they were behind schedule, and of course the very last thing in the visit is pee in the cup so it makes for a very long morning.  The good news:  excellent blood pressure, no observed issues, general complements for my self care and physical condition at age 59.  Stay off stationary bicycles, keep exercising. Viagra will happen due to internal chemical changes, and he is checking the EKG first, so Mrs. Lucy may be happier in a few weeks?  How does one every keep a wife happy I ask?

My brother appears to have turned the corner with depression/anxiety and he hopefully starts teaching next week.  It will be a huge bridge for him to cross as a professor and human being after a months long melt down.  The options of not working are truly grim.  My 92 year old mother hangs in there, just barely.  She keeps having close friends die, and that sucks.  She is nearing the end soon for her independent living.  The old tough birds fly away very slowly and sooner or later my role will be the primary support person.  She has supported my brother in many ways the past few months, so she is a blessing, but very difficult to be around.  In Durango when we visited it was very, very difficult dealing with her.

Work is just dismal:  waiting to see if we have jobs or not.  The executives post poned decisions and news again to mid-September.  As sole providor for the family and very high college costs, etc and a tough job market I am concerned.  Some people have already been told they don't have jobs.  So no news so far is good, maybe.  The oil business simply sucks and I have endured nearly 40 years of cycles without being laid off, knock on my wooden head.   I hope for two more years to get the purple haired daughter launched.  I need to have a long talk with my non-working wife, she needs to pitch in as back up.

Eldest daughter in NYC is thriving with her paid job.  She seems happy and they are happy with her.  She has some real talent and works hard.  Her BF passed initial exams to be a full blown Doctoral canidate at OU, so that is good news.  I keep wondering when we will get the announcement...uh we are engaged....but I hope they take their time.

Geez my questions about the Griso sure sparked some discussion.  Most of the replies were very interesting and useful.  A few were flip and nasty and irritated me.  Such is life I guess, why can't people be a bit more tolerant of inquisitive minds seeking information?  The V7R remains a beloved gem though and I am thankful to have the bike for stress relief.  Naw, I don't ride like an idiot folks.

So, yeah there it is on another dismal corporate drudge morning.  My motivation is very low.

I hope you are doing ok Dusty.

Laid off for a while so the other day started 6 gallons of wine in the fermenter. Today boiled and put 5 gallons of beer in another fermenter. Life is good.

One good thing about living in the middle of America , it is 600 miles to the ocean . Every urge to go to sea is squelched by the time it takes to get there . ;D

I had the day off today, so I headed towards Bungendore where Pete lives to buy some wine at one of the local wineries, but they were shut. So I headed northwest to Murrumbateman along some very nice twisty roads in the sunshine. It's currently 23 degrees celcius so it's perfect riding weather, no wind just cloudless blue skies. Got to Clonakilla wineery and bought their just released  2012 Shiraz Voignier and also just released 2013 Reisling. The winemaker said not to touch the shiraz voignier for at least 5 years. That's going to be a bit hard, but I'll do it.
The Griso was running beautifully and sounding so good with the new Mistral can on it. It sounds a bit like a Subaru Impreza wrx on steroids. So addictive. This is going to be one of the things I will miss about Canberra when I move back to Geelong this month. In winter you get these perfect days; no clouds, lots of sun, no wind,  but cold. Geelong on the other hand is cold, wet, grey and windy in winter, but beautiful in Spring and bloody hot in Summer. Top temp for summer 3 years ago was 47 degrees celsius. A bit hot for ATGATT, but I'll be doing it.
Going to have to try for another ride like this one in the next 2 weeks.

Vertical twins, singles and boxers, all with knobblies. Parked overnight, awaiting a demo day tomorrow. Who'da thoughtit ;D

ok

All systems check out on the boat except the tach and trim gauge.  There are endless details to attend to (as it always is with a boat) but the project is launch ready.

Good or bad?

You decide.  I can't.

My favorite boats don't need gauges. I don't know the feasability of a sailboat up in your neck of the woods though.
