General Discussion / Re: What fork oil weight for 2008 1200 Sport?
« Last post by paulbricey on Today at 10:19:27 AM »
Fork oils can have lots of variability in actual viscosity for any 'claimed' weight (and they can claim grades that don't even exist!). It's really the KV40C that's closest to real life flowing conditions, so pick whether you feel you want to go lighter or stiffer and pick by actual stated viscosity at 40C for any product

. I wanted to go super light for my Griso front end and went with Puraline HPXR 2.5W....it's stated at 6.7cst viscosity (KV@40C). Motul 5W is factory recommended and 18cSt (that's almost three times the 2.5W viscosity). Castrol 5W is 15 Cst....you can see from Castrol literature how the KV40C changes with grade - I wouldn't go 20 as that's very heavy viscosity & unless you live in the arctic/Atakama, there's no need for a summer and winter grade selection.

General Discussion / Royal Enfield Demo Event at TWO.
« Last post by twowheeladdict on Today at 09:33:53 AM »
Where:  Two Wheels Only, Suches, GA.
When:  April 6th and 7th.  10:00-4:00.

I’ve heard that they are bringing the full demo fleet.

There are no boring roads around Suches so you will really get to test out the bikes.

Wish I could get there, but not in the cards at this time.

If interested please verify this information with TWO.

Not exactly the same but the original Bosch starter on my CX would never crank consistently so I replaced it with a Valeo but the Bosch starter worked perfectly fine on my 1000S so it sat on the shelf until I acquired the Lemans and it works fine on that bike. I assume it must be the ring gear but it’s never been an issue with the Valeo.

I can understand the idea of the gear not disengaging from the flywheel, but it blows my mind that the starter motor would have enough braking power to prevent the motor from running faster than starter speed.

I would have thought that the engine would simply over power the starter.

What are the odds?  The motor actually is running, but at the same exact rpm as the starter, so essentially it seems like the motor is not running!!

It would have been fascinating to put a volt meter and ammeter on the battery and if the starter was drawing almost no current since the engine was actually running.

What a cool experiment.  Drive for miles and miles as long as your thumb is on the starter button......

Unintentional hybrid motorcycle!!
