Dunlop Road Smart 2
« on: July 01, 2019, 10:51:16 PM »
Boy, these sure are cheap nowadays.     I’m talking about the old school 2s, not the current high Zoot 3s.

It appears that Dunlop reintroduced the mold and tread pattern of the 2s, so I’m not looking at ancient dry-rotted tires.

Any feedback on these?   Old school tires for old school carbed Ducati 900SS, ridden by an old guy.   Is my reasoning sound?

No idea , although I hear those require a full synthetic 0W 80 oil for proper life .

I just changed out a Roadsmart II 190/55ZR-17 on a big, fat Yamaha Roadliner after 6,000 miles.   These bikes eat rear tires, so we were happy with that mileage.

Good dry weather performance - and we rode the Tail of The Dragon, Back of The Dragon, etc. etc.  in the rain, 2-up.  No complaints.

I've got Dunlop Q2 on my V11 Sport and they work fine, last as long as Michelins and cost about a third less.  Good feel to them.

But if you want a great sporting tire, I have Pirelli Diablo Rosso III on my Duc SS.  They were OEM and are the stickiest tires I've ever ridden.  They are sportier than sport touring but not quite full sport.   I got 5k on the rear (at the wear bars, not worn out) and 7k front (same).  I really don't know the full mileage since I took a weekend trip to the Ozarks and didn't want to risk it, the front is on order and I'll probably go a little further since my next trip is Labor Day to Springfield Mile.

I run a 160/60 Dunlop Roadsmart II on the front of my Victory and love it. I changed the first one at 32K (yes, 32K) miles as it was just about to the wear indicators. I replaced it with another 160/60  RS II and expect it will also go over 30K miles.

Excellent tires at excellent prices.

These tires are very popular with the distance riding set. The price is right and they perform well.
