Carrying lumber on your bike
« on: July 03, 2022, 10:25:23 AM »
I stumbled on this pic today on the internet.
Always wondered if I could bring lumber home on my bike. Now I have ideas.
Isn't this an EV? Broken turn signal stalks even.
This any of you guys?

Oh man! Why does that have to happen on a MG?  Just when we were trying to improve our image

He could at least put a flag at the end of it and it would double as a safety/visibility device.
Back support?
Sissy bar from the wood age?
He'd be jousting with oncoming traffic if he was in a sport bike position.
Too cheap to buy gas for his friend with a pickup (extra Guzzi content)

I once carried a banana plant home in my backpack.   It was sticking at least 2 feet above my helmet.

I would never do that in Australia..
In the Southern Hemisphere it’d be pointing downwards….!

Had to pick up some trim from a lumber yard in Brooklyn, going to Manhattan. Turns were a bit tricky but I made it.

Maybe he always rides like that?  Wonder what would break first that 2x4 or his back when he hits a low wire.  Think he should have bungeed it around his neck for "safety"'

Its not lumber, but here my G5 is loaded up with 2  Lionel 0-gauge diesel locomotives   + 9 streamlined passenger cars in the bags, a Sears wood router and 40 bits in a heavy plywood carrying case and a twin engine Cessna. All hauled about three miles across town after finding an uncharted garage sale.
Flatbed Givi rack on police radio rack rails with Rox straps.

I have used this same trailer for most everything normal folks would use a truck for.

You’re supposed to use your Ural sidecar rig for trips to the building supply store.  I do it all the time.

I have a lumber (sic) support adjustment in the truck seat, but nothing resembling wood pops up from “down there…”
Well, not often anyway…

I use my Eldo w/Watsonian hack.  The last time I did that was when I needed to do some repair work to the r!fle range at school for the coming season at the local high school.

I had a full size microwave new in box on the back seat of my EVT. I had intended to just get a small cheapo microwave, but for about $15 more I got the full size with some features I prefer. Wasn't bad, had to sit way forward on the seat. At least I had only a few mile to travel.

Then there was a time I had about 15 or so fishing rods up to 8' in my police saddle bag and then they were bungied to my seat against the trunk. Then there was the time with a v8 crankshaft. Then ..............

I'm sure we all could go on :boozing:
