Rainy Day
« on: December 10, 2022, 07:00:50 AM »
I just went outside with Lila the lab for her morning sniff.  Cold rain, the kind that comes in sheets and maybe turns to sleet, is falling in fits and starts.  This means GARAGE TIME!!  Maybe some country music on the radio.  A quick grilled cheese sandwich and cup of tea for lunch and then back out.  I’m even hoping that no one stops by to chat and rob me of precious minutes fitting parts and choosing the right tools.  I wish everyone similar happiness today.

Thanks, Ben.  Hope you have a productive day as well..

We’ve been consistently rainy like that here in SC for the past week+ with more to come.  The icky part of wet southern winter here is like mud season in New England but with temps just too warm to freeze so it never dries out. Gooey clay galore.   usually it doesn’t get wet like this until late Jan-Feb.

Around the weather, I’m working a list of a few more odds & ends to order for the CX including pumper diaphragms, petcocks and bearings for the rear wheel.

Same in my neck of the woods, central piedmont NC. The ground is sloppy and it’s been cold, rainy and damp all week.

All 3 bikes are running well and don't require immediate attention.

OTOH I have a 15 year old (at least) Multiplex LS-7 3.3 Meter glider kit that I've finally started building. I'm spoiling the scale detail by adding an electric motor in the nose for launching. The Cape closed most of the slope soaring sites (thanks obnoxious drone pilots) and the dog walkers took over the field we used for winch launching so electric launch is the only way left to get 130 inches of wing airborne.

Building aircraft is a very satisfying use of shop time. It does leave a thin film of balsa dust on the bikes (but that soaks up any leaking oil  ).

I combine the two passions as I often end up at the club field with aircraft packed in the Ural.
