Haven't heard this for awhile..
« on: May 25, 2021, 03:18:01 PM »
I was on the G5, going to the annual Guzzi spaghetti feed at David and Diana's. Stopped at a light to turn left, and a guy in a pickup two lanes over shouted, "Hey, Buddy! What the hell *is* that?"

Hey Chuck,                                                                            5-25-21

I've posted this before but I have to re-visit...

"Hey, what kind of Harley is that?"

"Hey, what kind of Honda is that?"

"Hey, where was that made?"  - "No, I mean what planet?" (My favorite)

Chuck would have put “Snot a Harley “ but your way is more civilized.

I get a surprising amount of questions from people asking what model of Harley is that? I just say Harley hasn't seen the light to turn the motor 90*.

My sister in law has a PhD in english but had no idea that Harley Davidson was not just a generic name for any motorcycle. Kept getting gifts from her at Christmas, birthday, etc. with Harley themes, calendars, wall hangings etc. Some of the tackiest stuff you've ever seen, straight to the trash crap. I mentioned this to my brother also Phd in English, he says she wouldn't care if I told her or not, she'd still get me the same crap. They've been in my home, nothing like that crap in my home. Some people!  Shrug!

In 2019 a couple of Guys from Clarksville, IN showed up at the KY Rally for the day.  I spoke with them about riding back home with them that night.  They said sure and we headed out.  Arriving in Clarksville we headed to the Shriners Lodge where a bike event for a local Club was going on.  The two guys on their new California's were waved on in.  The Gate Keepers told Me to "get My piece of Japanese Crap out of here".  I laughed and head on my way.

At Sunday's DGR event in Indianapolis, There were 120 bikes, 6 of them Moto Guzzi. One was Austin on his G5. The only helmetless attendee, guy riding a V-Rod with a lady friend, hollars to Austin "Never seen a bike like that before. What is it"

Austin, nearly touching the tank with his outstretched index finger:"A Moto Guzzi"

V-Rod: "Who makes it?"

Yesterday I stopped at the DMV motorcycle motorcycle testing course to practice a bit. The local supermarket is next door. The produce guy was taking a break on the loading dock. He said that he did the same on his Indian. He asked me make of bike I had. After I told him he wanted to know if it was chain or belt drive. I don't know if he actually has an Indian or not. As far as I know there is only one in town and I know the owner.

In 1994, my wife came home from work, and told me that a new kid they hired worked part time at a Motor Gussy shop. I said, no way, there are no Moto Guzzi shops around here. I mean, nobody around here has even heard to them. The next day she got more details from him. The day after that, I visited the shop. The day after that, I owned a new California.
