Hobuck Beach Camput *updated* 22 August 2015
« on: March 27, 2015, 09:10:25 PM »
For the past couple of years we here in the Northwest have been missing our August campout in Bruceport, WA. So we've revived it in Neah Bay... so it isn't technically the same campout, but the 40-50 miles of winding curves along WA Highway 112 make up for it. It's about 10 miles from the northwestern most point of the contiguous US so it won't be for everybody, but for those who can make the trip it should be awesome.

All details (or at least the ones we've worked out) can be found here on our WA MGNOC calendar page http://inet-rendezvous.com/motoguzzi/monthly.htm. Also a few of us are going up on the weekend of 5/30-5/31 to scope out a campsite. Send me a message if you're interested in that ride.

We fished out of Neah Bay back when the locals were still using dugout canoes (with outboard motors).  Beautiful area, and some very nice roads.  When are the projected dates for the event?  If I'm in the time zone I'll try to make it.

Jim, G & I are looking forward to it. Might also tag along at the end of may.
RK: he hid the dates in the title. Sneaky old geezer that he is.

UPDATE on pre-campout trip. Roy, Marlin and I will be riding up on May 9th and heading back on the 10th. The manager of the resort will show us around and help us pick a good camp spot. If we get this done early enough we might be able to get in a ride to Lake Ozette and back. We'll probably start from my place in Gig Harbor Saturday morning. Meeting up with Roy at the Chevron just before the Hood Canal bridge. Anyone is welcome to join us (we can fit 6 in the cabin).

I always liked the Bruceport campout,  Neah Bay should be a hoot.  A bit more rain than even Bruceport but a really neat destination.
If I might make a suggestion, talk to some of the local fishermen about buying fish right off the boat for a feast.

Will do... one of the things I liked about Bruceport was the oysters. One year I bought 3 dozen from Goose Point Shellfish and we cooked them on the fire grill. Oh buddy, that was a feast.

Hey Bill, we're heading up to Hobuck this coming weekend (May 9 & 10) to meet the manager and work out the details. You and Gail are welcome to join us. The Belge might even make it up (he'll be riding my V-Strom not his Multistrada).

Depending on how the rest of the trip goes, I might stop by after the New Mexico rally this summer.

I really liked the Bruceport Guzzi campouts, but realize the couple that put them on live in Idaho now.  Not being a fish eater nor enjoy drizzle rain, I'll have to pass on this opportunity.  :)   Am considering making the Deep Forrest Campout this summer tho.  :)   Used to live in Vancouver, Wa. and know the PNW Guzzisti well.

Sorry, Jim. May 10 is my birthday (55) and Gail had big doins planned.
on a side note: Several years ago, my girlfriend at the time said 'what do you want to do on yours birthday?' I said 'Loop Oregon on my bike-alone.' That's what I did, but I never did it again.

RAIN?  :thewife:  I ain't brining no stinkin' Rain to the campout  :Beating_A_Dead_Hors e_by_liviu
Jim you don't live here anymore :boxing:, haven't you heard about the drought - setting records for dry - hot -N- sunshine.
Okay, I admit it usually gets a lot of rain out in Neah Bay: but I haven't been rained on the last 4 times visiting out there; well, it did a tiny drizzle of rain/hail on us during the Jan 1st New Years Day ride - the Wet season.  August is the "dry" season in Neah Bay.  Bikers who ride anywhere on the NorthWest Coast must make friends with the possibility of rain - anywhere. :whip2:
Everyone in the lower 48 has been missing you Sasquatch.  Hope to see  :bike-037:you soon.
Now that I said all that - I hope it doesn't Jinx the weather   Karma Check.
Seriously tho, I am betting on upper 70's - Clear Skys ~ No Rain ~~ awesome beach ~ awesome roads ~  :coffee: Hot Coffee ~ Biker Buddy's ~ maybe some fresh catch to take home.  Ya'll Come - Ya Hear!
