Yamabond?

Back in the early 1970's, I was a partner in a bike shop. We used a Yamaha product to insure a good seal in the vertically split cases used in two-stroke singles. I remember it as a silver colored silastic of some sort that I think was called Yamabond. Anyone know if the stuff is still available?

Threebond 1211 does the same job very well.

I use Loctite Master Gasket.

I carry a small syringe of the stuff in my backback on the bike.  Have used it on a trip when I got annoyed listening to a rapid tappet.  Tore the rocker gasket; just glued it back together with Master Gasket, waited 10 minutes and away again Jack.

Ron: Hondabond is easier to find and virtually identical.

Yamabond #4 was the stuff for metal to metal, like engine cases. #5 was for use on gaskets.

OR you could use Permatex High Temp gasket maker, comes in a number of different colours. It works really well and is affordable.  DonG

Is this just for valve cover gaskets? My understanding is that the cylinders and heads don't use anything other than the gaskets?

For gaskets in places that come apart on a regular basis like sump & rocker cover, I really like this. Oil & fuel resistant, helps to seal and prevents gasket damage on disassembly + no scraping.
