That really sucks. A neighbor just had his four wheeler taken right from his driveway. They ought to hang em, like they did horse thieves in the day.
JJ,I was only half serious about the hanging. But, there should be greater penalties for vehicle theft, IMHO. A theft of your bike, car etc can be extremely disruptive to the victim.
That is a shame. It feels like such a violation, not just the scooter being taken but your personal space, privacy and home being violated. I hope the insurance comes thru. When I lived in Arizona a few years ago most stolen high end vehicles and motorcycles were taken south. A friend had his high dollar truck stolen from a parking lot and it was spotted from a helicopter running across the desert towards Mexico. Motorcycles and scooters were shoved into vans and semis and driven on dirt roads across the border. Who knows where after that.
In my 54 years of riding (34 bikes), only ever had ONE bike stolen....A 1978 Yamaha XS750 Special, (triple, shaft drive), all black and chrome, mint condition with on 5,000 miles on it from new. It was CHAINED to a steel pole at my apartment complex in Austin, TX. I was 23 at the time...The DPS officer who took the report said there was a gang stealing bikes at the time all over Austin. 4 guys, one HD chain-breaker, two steel bars, and he said it probably took about a minute to lift it up and into a van...I remember him saying the bike probably went to Mexico...("That's nice...."). After that, I never left a motorcycle out in the open again. Garaged only - "Out of Sight - Out of Mind!"Ironically, with the insurance money, I then bought my very FIRST Moto Guzzi - A 1978 850 Le Mans!!
I had one bike stolen, it's been years. It was a 1982 Yamaha Seca Turbo, I had it locked up in the parking lot of my apartment but that stops nobody (as we all know). This was in November or so, in April it was picked up in a drug raid a few towns over; I had to pay the impound fees to get it back.
Do you mean Warren Rhen ? Dusty
JJ,I was only half serious about the hanging.
I should damn well think so..Throw away the half where you weren’t serious and keep the other half, have you no respect for human life..?
Sorry Hoozo, not taking the bait. If you want to get high and mighty on your keyboard, your going solo. Enjoy the ride.
So rather then a thread about a friend who has lost a scooter you want to turn this thread into a political and/or religious/moral discussion of the social efficacy of the death penalty?!?
No Kev, but you do and want to deflect it onto me.Let’s both stop, if the humour was either not good enough or at the wrong audience I’ll accept it.If no one responds to this post, it’ll be the last we see/hear of it.
That’s probably a good idea👍Good night gentlemen 🤞
Here is Mr. Sunshine this last Saturday.
Except there was never an actual issue just misunderstood humor.
Damn shame about the theft. Should I rethink leaving my keys in my bikes in the garage? It’s how I know where they are (keys, that is).
