We did a poll a couple years back (https://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=99590.270) and the majority of members came in between 55-65.

According to that poll, 78% of us are over 55 and 31% over 65.

79 coming up soon (Jan 2022.)  It's been a good ride.  Started on a buddy's bikes (Whizzer, Motobecane, Sears Allstate (Vespa,) and his Mustang scooter.)  My own BSA came along in 1965.  Dropped out of biking for several years until 1984.  Picked up a 750 Virago, then on to BMW K bikes in 1986 for several years, along with my current R100GS.

The Guzzi part ...... a wonderful 2008 1200 Sport, purchased in 2010, and ridden until Bulldog took her over in 2020.  There was a beautiful Griso 8vSE from 2012 thru 2015.

To repeat ...... it has been a good ride!

I an a young 66. The oldest rider that I knew that still traveled was JN Smith. He was somewhere around 90 when he did his last trip. A friend of my mother is 88 and still flies weekly and maintains his own plane (retired TWA mechanic).

Jass, let me know how you like the 750 DCT.
I looked hard for one in 2019 but couldn't find one. Only the std. trans. The bike itself felt a bit big and too tall for what it was but I understand they changed it a bit for 2021.
My bad left hand/thumb and short old legs relly limit my choices.

48?  I think a survey on the "youngest" rider is in order.

Lord willing and the creeks don't rise, as they say, I'll be 76 in a few weeks. While it's a chore sometimes to deal with the T, the only times I've dropped it is pushing it around the garage, it's till my favorite ride. The v65 is great on the gravel roads they have up here and is a lot easier to park, but I still prefer the T. Here's a pic after a hard ride in the White Mtns north of town. On a dog team, not a Guzzi!

That really amazing Goose! You still appear to be a man in total control. The dog sled really is interesting to me. How about sometime posting some photos when you have the boys hitched up and ready to head out👍

Well I don't know about total control, after half a dozen surgeries in past few years for joint replacements and afib ablations, I'd say it's the health care industry that's in total control. I looked for some exciting photos of the dog team, but most of the recent stuff is not that great. But here's a pic out of video clip they shot of me when I was in the White Mtns north of town (couldn't get the movie to load)...

The photo was used in a brochure they published about the White Mtns; it was my one shot at being locally word famous...

Anyway, there's lots of recent pics on the blog, just enter sled dogs into the search box...

Hi Vagrant
Took me a long time to find my bike as well. Honda supplied very few bikes this year. Most California dealers got just one DCT version. I live in the SF Bay Area and ended up buying my bike in Portland. The 2021 bikes are lower than previous years by about 30 mm. Honda figured out that owners weren't taking their bikes off road so no point in higher ride height. Lots of other changes too, such as ride by wire throttle, etc. 2022 bikes (when they get here) will be identical to 2021 from what I've read. I've got hand problems as well, Dupruytens. The DCT set up very well for me.

Go luck in your search!

You can ride for as many years as you feel safe in doing so. You may, at some point, need a more appropriate MC.

I never favored heavy bikes, but have had a few. 2 VFR's, RG500 Gamma, ----. I've also ferried many big bikes for those that could not find pleasure stuffing big miles to their 'vacation spot'.

You may need to adjust you're attitude. You can get in a whole lotta hurt managing a heavy bike - and it will not be fun. Most all of my bikes have been sport bikes. I've had an Aprilia RS125 for many a years. A 2 stroke weighing less than 300# wet. 2 more teeth on the rear sprocket and it can still break 100. Outstanding brakes and handling. More fun than that barrel of monkeys' we hear about.

BTW: A few laps on a rowing machine will help keep the creeks and groans @ bay.
BTWII: Almost all of my C2C and many in between trips, have been on 2 SV650S Suzuki's - w/Ventura luggage.

If you're going out for a day or two wear a small collapsible back pack for possible incidentals you'll find along the way..    Good fortune,  R3~
