I put a Velorex 562 on a DR650 for a customer and it worked well. Build a subframe for it, and beefed up the upper rear mount point also. Was a nice rig.
My DR650 served me for 9 years with a Ural sidecar attached. Off road and on. Top speed with hack was over 75 if I wanted it. Milage while on the road was about 40. My rear sprocket was about 48 teeth sometimes 50 later when I got to Hawaii. Hawaii has lower speed limits. Hope this helps.
Agree with Lee on the Velorex.I have not installed one on a DR650 but have done a few on KLR650's. Heavier springs and a fork brace up front help also.
Perazzimx14If/when you do it could you post some pic's as I have a DR650 as well. That KLR looks good.Never even entered my mind to attach a s/car.Then if it did it would more than likely get lost in there. Harry
Would you be carrying a passenger or stuff? Rich A
Kevin,How much ground clearance did you end up with using the KLR? Did you make the subframe and attach it to the stock Velorex mounting "arms"? I have a 562 on my 1000SP, but have been thinking about picking up a KLR and going the dual sport route. Thanks,Tom
