Crock pot two pork fish, can of tomato soup, bag of sauerkraut and a pack of cheese dogs. Set on low and cooked all day.

Serve cheese dog topped with red kraut on a Martins Potato long roll dressed with yellow mustard.

Or cooked over charcoal until charred served on a long roll dressed with mustard.

The author puts ketchup on a hot dog, a sure sign that the offered opinion ain't worth a damn.

Agreed! No self respecting American would use red gravy on a hotdog. Yellow mustard it the only dressing

I wouldn't waste beer to cook one. That's for the other hand while eating a dog.

Man I absolutely LOVE hot dogs. Especially the giant half pound ones. Ketchup, mustard, and relish. But in order to be good it MUST have char.

Oh, and give me 2 or 3 Chicago hot dogs any day!!!

Wienie roast style over a fire is the best, hands down. Some blackening required.

Sorry but bare hot dogs on a bun get mustard and ketchup.  Lucky to add onions, relish or cheese.

Chili Dogs get mustard, chili, cheese, plus optional condiments pickles, relish, and onions.  There are some special regional dogs like Chicago style, certainly kraut and peppers can be good.

Nothing like a dog with a Frito Chili Pie: Chili, Fritos, Cheese, onion, optional jalapenos, cut up dog.

Grilled dogs are better than boiled.  But it's only a dog, so not a big deal.

Don't over think it.  Dogs don't have nearly the versatility or gourmet options as burgers.  It's only a hot dog.   :food:

They are already cooked before they are wrapped in plastic. As previously noted, lips, hooves, rat bits and buttholes.

Grilled in butter on a buttered grilled bun, maybe in a classic diner with a coke. Yellow mustard.  It’s not (all) about the hot dog, it’s about where and with whom you enjoy it.

Hebrew National 100% beef hot dogs are hands down the best, especially grilled.  Pickle relish and Dijon mustard is all they need.  They're Kosher and Halal to boot, if those things matter to you.  But please, never put the "Reagan vegetable" on hot dogs.

P.S.  Will substitute "ketchup" for the quoted words if management insists.

Or cooked over charcoal until charred served on a long roll dressed with mustard.

This^ and with natural casing, not skinless dogs until they crack open.

There are plenty of ways to make hot dogs, but I still like a NYC Dirtywater Sabrett Hot Dog. Sauerkraut, Mustard and a Coke.

the office picnic, weenie + bun + mustard + ketchup

Bare mustard is too tart.  All you taste is mustard.  Add a little ketchup for balance  :thumb:

this ain't gourmet eatin', just the picnic line.   :food:

Last time in NYC.  I did a hotdog day ride.  Found a Sabretti street cart for breakfast then rode over to Coney Island (long way) for lunch at Nathan's for dogs and fries.  Brooklyn Bridge back over Lower to Manhattan.  Long way around coming in from the Westside Highway, Katz's for an afternoon snack.

Had them all the same way.  Yellow mustard only to compare flavor and taste.  They were all good!   :thumb:  Not my preferred way to eat a hotdog however.  No matter what additives.  I need the heat added usually slathered with Tobasco since it's readily available all over.  :food:

Was that two hot dogs and a knish or three hot dogs? Never had a hot dog at Katz’s, either pastrami or a corned beef sandwich.

I am a fan of "Mexican Hot Dogs" wrapped in bacon, seared on a flat grill, condiments are pinto beans, chopped jalapeno relish, chopped onions, mayo, and mustard. Served on a slightly sweet mexican bread shaped like a canoe. Yumm!
Tucson Arizona is the Mexican hot dog capital of the USA! :thumb:

The best and only way to make a hotdog is going Danish style. all you yanks are dead wrong ;)

And to prove this fact here is an article from an yank trying it out in Copenhagen :)
