Title: Hope to see you folks again Friday.
Post by: sidecarnutz on May 11, 2021, 08:22:52 PM
Going into the shop for major suspension work tomorrow morning! (Knee rebuild) I did ask for only authentic and authorized Guzzi parts to be Used. And for a laser alignment on the knee afterwards so I don't start wearing out my shoes crooked afterwards ;-)
Hoping they don't use cheap generic parts from China like the VA Hospital would have used. Hope to be back online Friday after I get home!

Thanks folks
Had it done Wednesday. Was walking on it on day 1. Great drugs apparently. ;-) More sore on day 2, but I walked 50 yards and did a flight of stairs. Got home Friday afternoon. Sleeping pretty well at night and skipping the night time pain pills. No problem getting around the house, bathroom, getting dressed. My wife IS spoiling me rotten. I married "up" for sure. Pain levels are very attention getting when I flex it downwards and when I first stand up. I can make it past 80 degrees now even with the bandage and staples on. I feel once that all comes off, 90 degrees will not be a problem. No problem straightening it fully. I AM doing all PT and then some. I've had many people tell that is the key to the best outcome.
I am using a walker, but expect to graduate to a cane in a couple weeks.
The replacement process pulls the muscles and tendons badly. That is where most of the pain comes from. Just gotta keep them stretched out as they heal.
Overall, a very positive experience. I feel like I got world class care!

I hope you continue to improve- and quickly!  I suspect there is something similar in my future, so it is nice to hear a success story.
Say nice things to your wife!  She'll continue to spoil you.

Don't rush it.  Follow the PT instructions.

I had my hip done last fall.  The best thing ever!

Thanks folks! I attached a pic of the 20 cm incision with 48 staples. Don't worry. Nothing gross to look at. Healing amazingly cleanly.

very fun (https://emoticoncentral.com/category/very-fun)

You can see its swollen. I spend 40 minutes of every hour with elevated/iced and then I let it dangle from my chair to stretch it also folding it back under me in the chair to stretch. And the really painful PT, laying back on the recliner with a strap on my foot to help me to pull it back to 90 degrees and hold it for a 20 count. Ten times. Lots of time on the walker doing all I can loosens it up too. I'm doing well so my wife is actually leaving me along tomorrow so she can go to work and then spend the afternoon helping our daughter with her son. She's dropping in to make me lunch just because she is thorough and loving. I'm a lucky guy.
Tomorrow the PT guy will be here to work me over and add another exercise to my PT routine.
Nurse came by this morning to tear the huge bandage off the staples, that was the MOST painful thing ever! But then it was over and I'm fine. My BP one minute after was just 110/60! Not bad for a man who was screaming for God a minute before! LOL It was like condensing all the pain from raising teen agers into a ten second period.
Staples come out Monday! Looking forward to it. Hope y'all have a good weekend!
