I have one of those. Less than 20K miles, in great shape. Love that bike but she out grew me.

The yclept Joe Caruso conversion - replacing every thing in the timing chest, plus a new and better oil pump - was done 3 years ago.

I bought it at 1147 miles in April of 2000. Spin on oil filter - Teo Lamers sump. Asking $15K. Always stored in a warm basement.  R3~

Speaking of a Centauro, I lucked out when a close friends' Centauro blew up.  We used to ride together. He called me right away, w/the warning, results and the 'cure'. How do you say thank you to someone like that?

BTW: My Daytona is original except for the sump and external oil filter.   R3~

peace of mind is a beautiful thing. I had the C-kit cams and new lifters installed while installing the caruso pump/ steel timing gear. Also a pete roper sloppage plate. Ed milich had the cams and lifters DLC coated for me. see old vs new cam and old lifter pics. 18,000 mile engine.

My Daytona 1100RS is Centauro according to the Auto License Bureau.  I wasn't going to argue the point.  This especially when they don't know vehicles.  Same thing for the first generation Honda Pilot made by Isuzu.

I have the same issue with my RS in that every single year since 1999 the insurance company renewal paperwork has called it a Centauro.  And every year I call them and straighten it out on the policy.

On the plus side, if they confuse the Daytona RS as a Centauro then the insurance cost is lower.  Standard vs sport bike.   :boozing:

True, but I made them change mine from centauro to RS because I don’t want to argue with them if I had to make a claim.

Too bad they opened the crate. Could have won "most original" at any bike show they entered.

It is getting some $$$love. Has five days to go, I imagine it will double by the end of the auction.

My LeMans came from John Hoffman’s Cycle Specialties. That was a well known dealer in Athens.

Hopefully it does not end up in any museum but rather in a rider's hands that will bastardize it however they want and ride the wheels off of it.  Motorcycle museum are kind of sad  all the bikes were built to be ridden not to sit there like art.

Clearly you haven’t been to the museum at Barber.  Not all of us get to ride every motorcycle ever made, so it’s nice to go and drool on bikes we’ll never own.  Let THIS pristine Daytona rest in piece on display.

My vote for best looking Guzzi ever and thats what I would do to it. Not change any of the cosmetics but definitely replace or modify the CPU. Those early four valves had to be among the worst running Guzzis ever.
