NGC - Definitely not your father's outboard!

A far cry from the little Mercury Mark 25 we ran on a cartopper years ago!

Should be a real treat to insure the boat it's attached to.

I have a rather well-kept 2010 17' Alumacraft side-console with a 40hp 2-stroke. My guess is the prop on this 600hp behemoth costs more than my entire set-up.

Yeah, but there is a new guy in town.  Very intriguing design and huge power from a 4cyl.
It all centers around a connecting rod design that improves power, reduces vibration, and reduces complexity.

460 cubic inch V12?..... :shocked:
Everybody that is anybody in MIAMI will trade in all their 425 HP outboards for a set of 4 or 6 of these, now.

Is there an advantage in hanging 1/2 ton of engine off the transom of your boat as opposed to having the same mass inboard and low down apart from space inside the boat?

Easier to maintain or replace if there is a major problem. Also drive can come completely clear of the water in shallow conditions.

I didn't see any of the technical stuff nor any mention of con rids, just a vision on a very powerful 4 cyl engine that has fewer moving parts.  I'd like to see the technical explanation.

V12 = $77,000 each.

https://www.boatingmag.com/outboard-vs-inboard/

Not sure about this particular motor but Mercury is super busy and selling 'em as fast as they produce them. They also suspended their employee purchase program due to demand.

Here's that same motor with its clothes on. 627HP. The block is a supercharged Cadillac V8.

When you just gotta go fast.

40' Intrepid. Motors are $100,000 apiece, the whole package, with electronics is $1.1M.
