Does the Catholic Digest have a centerfold?
I just rode through Slapout about 10 days ago. A friend and I were coming back from a mountain tour of Colorado and stopped there for gas. We lucked out by riding under the cloud cover of a nearby thunderstorm and beat the heat!
They were actually open and had gas?About half the time I ride past there, it's closed. So, I've never planned it as a fuel stop.
On this current trip, we visited the town of Speed.
Are we talking the store at the very West end of Slapout ? It has always been open during normal hours when I have been through there . Even the "Mercantile" located in Kenton has been in somewhat regular operation for years now , and believe it or not , Kenton is WAAAAYYY more remote than Slapout Actually Mike , you know that , having been through Kenton at least once . Dusty
Yeah. Slapout is on US-412 at a junction, a relatively well-traveled route. On more than one occasion when I've passed through there, the store at the junction is closed. Same thing at Elmwood
I didn't know there was a town of Speed in Victoria, Australia. We've got one in Kansas, too.
LOL....there probably is some kind of story there due to the close proximity!
