OT: Self Propelled Mower pulls left...

Did you have to loosen the gear box mounting to get the belt on? Perhaps there's a little wiggle room in the mounting, and it's oriented off a little?

I'm just spitballing here...

That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

The mower is rear drive, and when I have the drive wheels off the ground both turn, so some power is going to the left wheel.

Is it a simple solid axle design ?

Check your tire pressures! next on the list would be brake adjustments, I know my exmark has wing nuts in several areas in the linkage to lengthen or shorten rods. Then I would go to the tensioner springs, maybe pulleys, finally belts. Process of elimination, something is wrong with a system, break it down into parts and segments systematically. Scott

My mower has a weird one way dog clutch in each wheel made from monkey metal. One of mine is knackered so only drives one wheel instead of two

Should've replaced BOTH drive belts, getting  just enough slip on L to cause difference in drive with load.

G.G. said in post that she replaced the belt drive to the rear drive gearbox, so I presume there is only one belt. Never seen that model but if it has a diff in there it may be driving one wheel more than the other, although if both wheels turn when the machine is lifted up them usually that side of things would be ok. If it is a live drive I would have no idea why it would go round in circles other than a flat tire.

There's only one belt, it runs from a pulley on the crankshaft just above the blades to the rear drive gearbox. There's some gears in there to make the power take the ninety degree turn and some reduction gears, no differential though. Tires are solid rubber, so they're already flat.

The patient is a 5 year old Honda walk behind with enough hours on it that I should start looking for a replacement... Actually worn the Honda OHC engine to the point it needed a valve adjustment. Broke the drive belt to the rear drive gearbox, replaced with a new belt and it pulls to the left. Had to clean out all the vegetation on the right side to get the belt in, was wondering if that threw it "off balance"? Cleaned out all the vegetation on the left side to equalize the drag, but it still pulls left. Any ideas?

Perhaps the breaking of the drive belt event had further ramifications than just the belt, and something in the black box that turns motion around the corner took a hit at the same time?

Penderic, I was just telling my son about a place out west called "The Cosmos" that I visited about 45 or 50 years ago.  That photo is either the same place, or one very similar.  It was a shack on a hill, with lots of illusions resulting.
