I recently heard a new story on how Harley dealers are also hurting. They surmised young kids are just not interested in motorcycles. If Harley dealers are hurting, where does that leave Guzzi dealers? Put down your game controller and buy a bike!
The S4R was the only 4v Monster. Scramblers are 2v.
I never understood why Piaggio does encourage any Aprillia, Vespa or Guzzi dealer to sell the other two. Not a lot of cross competition there.
People get put off when they hear specalty tool. But research it and you may find the specialty tools are not expensive and a small investment upfront is paid for the 1st time you service the bike at home. My tire machine was one of the best specialty tools I ever bought. I hated parting with the $600 up front but within 6 months it paid for itself and now generates beer. Buddies drop off wheels and tires and a case of beer.
I have both a 2 valve air cooled Multi Strada and an older ST4s 4 valve. Timing belt changes are easy enough, but the valve train...ugh! I have always found the desmo valve train to be a royal PITA to work on. What drives me crazy is the tiny valve keepers, or split-ring collets, as they are called. I call them finger-nail clippings, because thats about the size of one! You'd better have hands as steady as an eye surgeon. Drop one of those tiny babies and finding it is worse than looking for a contact lens. After I finish a valve adj. on a Ducati, I go over and hug my Griso!
I suspect we're seeing two things here, one the usual state of the Guzzi dealer network, and two the shrinking state of the industry.
Don't forget poor business practices. Not everyone is cut out to own and operate a business. Just because I love motorcycles and feel like I know a lot about motorcycles and can share my enthusiasm for motorcycles doesn't mean I would know how run a business.

Well so now I'm quite pissed off. When I saw this I was dissappointed but now I'm quite worried as it got me thinking. I haven't received my reg and title yet (purchased 12-14-18. Called Penn Dot and their sadly clueless (real shock I know) customer service dept couldn't find anything in their system. Anybody know what I need to be doing to get Eurosports to submit the paperwork so I have a legal bike? I don't suggest buying from them if they can't handle the legality.
Penn Dot doesn't have the plate or the vin in their system so all signs point to the dealer. They are closed today so I've begun the legal solutions. Have contacted MG requesting the regional rep get involved, started filling out the paperwork for a complaint the Dept of State, called the bank and waiting to hear back what my options are there (at least my cc deposit can be disputed still). Plan is to call them tomorrow and give them to the end of business tomorrow to provide me with proof that everything has been filed. Of course I have no idea how long they will be in business. My temp registration is up in less than 30 days so even if filed tomorrow I may be out of a bike to ride if penndot is slow (and with paper applications they usually are). Only mistakes I've ever gotten from Penndot were the ones clearly because the notary or dealer didn't fill out the paperwork clearly. That isn't on them :)
My plan would be to drive the Eurosports tomorrow and get things straightened out without any further delay.
If I could I would but sadly I am in the mits of my daughters ski race season and time is at a bare minimum (esp to make a 2 hour each way drive). Friday is the only day in the next 2 weeks that it is even possible and even then it will mess with her practice time. If I do go up Friday I will have the local men in blue meet me there and being the criminal complaint. Funny, they cashed the bank check day after they got it. :)
For all you know your plates and registration are sitting in the dealership. Some incompetent moron (always assume until proven otherwise) may have just forgotten to call you. I had issues when I bought my V7 there and never heard squat about my plates. My temp tag was ready to expire and I called my sales guy, gave him a "WTF?", and had them soon thereafter. This thing with dealers doing the DMV work (most seem to, including cars) is a scam. Save the money and do it yourself.
Perhaps, but my personal examples in this thread were mostly in major metro areas (close to Philly and NYC) and included Fast By Ferracci. Not to mention the dealer this is about weathered the last recession fine.Just saying.
Maybe the plates and papers are with the same guy who took my tires...I would definately drive there, ski season or not. Its a good chuck of money.
Didn't Ferracci close because Eraldo retired?
