One man’s ceiling is another man’s floor.  Paul Simon.

My response wasn’t to create any hand wringing or upset anyone, it is just an honest statement. When riding the Norge (which I love BTW) I have asked myself numerous times what one thing would I change and it boils down to the shaft for one reason: the slow speed driveline lash. Part of the problem is me, I go from the Norge with FI (it’s been remapped and is better) and a shaft to a very forgiving carbureted chain drive Triumph and I get a bit sloppy with the wrist on the Triumph. Then going back to the Norge the driveline feels harsh for a bit. Kinda like listening to digital vs analog music.

Anyway I’m slowly getting used to it and realize it’s what it’s going to be and again, I absolutely love the bike and the brand and suppose if I had bought it new and had dealer and/or warranty issues my thoughts and feelings would be much different.

Sure, I thought it ran okay before I loaded a Beetle map...

Afterwards, I understand what a horrible tune it came with from the factory. Not acceptable in todays market.

But, I have to balance that with the fact that unlike, say BMW, a mere mortal can in fact get access to all the electronic knobs and switches inside the computer... so it's a trade-off.

As being fairly new to Guzzi as I’m on my second, My only gripes are poorly
written and inadequate maintenance manuals and hard to find parts.

One of the things I LOVE about Guzzi is parts are so easy to find! Try  mgcycle.com or harpermoto.com for anything your dealer stocks or doesn't!  :thumb:

1 - Tonti Bosch alternators were crap, absolute rubbish.

2 - The Carb Sport (once properly jetted) is one of Guzzi's best ever. Functional, reliable, good handling, grin producing, and easy for owners to tinker with and maintain. Who ever designed the side stand should be forced to east ketchup on their pasta for the rest of their lives.

BrG-Bird, you didn’t upset me.   I was just being clever, or so I thought!

I asked pretty much the same question on this forum years ago.  My thread tittle was something like,  “if you could change one thing about your Guzzi what would it be?”

I think there were a lot of similar responses, that had to be 10 years ago or more!

I knew I was in for a substandard ownership experience when I ponied up the cash for a factory-accessory V7C tank bag and it didn't fit. The plastic tank wasn't even warped then. Installing the factory-accessory centerstand was another unfavorable adventure.

What I like about them,
Big block interchangeability, squeezing later motors into 70s frames,
And thingyness,
(thingyness being the feeling that you get when riding them)
Nothing not to like I reckon👍

At almost 38k miles, I love my Stelvio. I like it better now than I did when I bought it. It is truly representative of the bike being more than the sum of its parts and I think it's a terrific example of Italian engineering.

Moto Guzzi is not currently making anything that would make me reach for my wallet. Nothing in their lineup flips my switch. The V85 comes closest but the small block is off-putting to me. Everything else Moto Guzzi is either lacking legroom, too Hardley - or just wrong for me.

I intend to ride my Stelvio until it disintegrates and because I'm diligent about the maintenance, I think I have a long way to go. I would love to add a big-block standard with decent legroom to my stable and I want it to be a Moto Guzzi. I just don't see one in their lineup...

That's my biggest gripe - not much, huh?

Personally, I’ve always enjoyed the pre-scratched parts as it takes a lot of worry away from something that I might do in the future.

Fasteners made from a substance just a little harder than 🧀 cheese. 4 bikes and ALL have had one or two faster issues, either the threads or the allen/hex head.

My dearest wish (and Guzzi's biggest mistake) is the availability of a heavy flywheel in the V7 / V9 bikes.

And here I thought I was the only one who would like a little more flywheel weight. It would make my new-to-me V7 Stone a lot more enjoyable.

1.  The EV- the tractor like shifting process previously mentioned.

2. The Griso- The U.S. made plug caps.

3. In general, failing to do something about known issues (above plug caps, startus interuptus) just because...

2016 V7II Stone -- I like the transmission "clunk"; it lets me know that the shift has been made, particularly when I make a sloppy shift (boot barely on the lever). The Beetle map did wonders to how the motor runs. 30,000 miles and my only complaint now is the tach -- why did they put two digit numbers on it? I still find myself looking at the tach and thinking it is the speedo. Maybe I can pop the lens off and black out the "0"s with a Sharpie. Oh well, have to have something to complain about? Not!

The only thing on my wish list on this subject would be that Moto Guzzi have several dealerships in every state same as the other brands that we discuss here. Like I have said here before, without the guys here on this forum, I would not own these great bikes because I’m not mechanically talented.

i got my first bmw in 97 and West Virginia, a place I ride often had no dealer then and probably still does not.  it is the nature of a boutique brand, but I admit our dealers are scarcer.

With the popularity of the new V85s, there are *many* big block standards available. Cheap. (Guzzi content)

I suspect that a lot of the buggy running from new is to get an air cooled engine to pass the Euro testing.

Mist & water streaks inside the Stelvio speedo + very soft allen bolts.

for those interested in an older eldorado, cadre has one that was just gone over, looks good but like a rider and has a 1000 big bore kit.  give them a call for details. enzo said it was ready to be ridden anywhere.  has lead tech, guzzi dave is the best guzzi wrench in the area.

I only have had the one, and it is a heavily modified vintage bike.

The dealer network isn't an issue - hell I live in the 33rd-largest metropolitan area in the U.S.A and I have to drive 2.5 hours to the nearest Ducati dealership.

My gripe is that Moto Guzzi has an ugly logo, there isn't a piece of gear or T-shirt I would want with the logo on it.

What I don't like about Guzzi is it is too damn pretty to mess with by adding luggage, touring shield, etc.

What I love about my Guzzi is the shaft drive, air cooled, great looks, decent range, etc.
