Today in 1964 Charlie Watts and the boys released their first album . The world hasn't been quite the same since .

                                                           It's only rock and roll

The truly amazing thing about the Stones , well besides that Keef is still kicking , they still seem to have tremendous energy . One would think with their supposedly decadent lifestyles they would be incapable of breathing , let alone performing . Guessing Mick and the boys have been on a serious diet and workout regimen for years , or maybe like Kirby says , drugs are the secret to a long healthy life . Heck , Keef has looked 100 for 30 years now , and Mick still hops around like rooster on acid

Keef is the man.  No question.
Been listening to Sticky Fingers lately trying to hear what he and Mick Taylor were up to. Listen to left and right channels completely separately and it's pretty amazing.  At my advanced years I'm starting to play around with the open G tuning that he preferred.  In spite of the drugs, he's a 20th-21st century master.
Studio version of Gimme Shelter, with Merry Clayton literally miscarrying after the session is as dark and powerful as it gets.  Get Yer Ya Ya's Out Street Fighting Man is as good as a live recording gets period.

One of my favorites:  Send it to Me...such great lyrics and beat...

A sample of some of the greatest refrains written:

I lost my lover
Unfaithful lover
I need some money
Send it to me

I need consoling
Your boy's feeling lonely
Please try to phone me
Send it to me

If she can't travel
I can take the mule train
I can take the aeroplane
Send it to me

Today I'm begging you
Begging you, begging you
Down on my knees

Baby, please, please, please
You, you, you got to send it
Send it, send it, send it to me
Send her, oh, send her to me

Ain't you got no daughter
No second cousin
That needs my loving
Send it to me

She won't have to wash or scrape
She won't have to relocate
I guarantee her personal security

She don't have to be five foot ten
Or blond or brunette
She don't have to be no social hostess
Send her

She may work in a factory
Right next door to me
In my fantasy
Send her to me

She could be Romanian
She could be Bubarian
She could be Albanian
She could be Hungarian

She might be Ukrainian
She could be Australian
She could be the Alien
Send her to me

Send her to me
Send her to me
Send her to me
Send her to me

I turned 62 today.  Had the family over & cooked some burgers.  Got some cigars, scotch and a gopro mount.

It was a nice one.

congrats to the Stones.

A local radio station reported on the Stones relaxing after a concert in the Islands. Seems like they had a few too many kavas and keef fell out of a coconut tree he was climbing. After reading the article the newsreader added. "evidently Keith landed on his head so he was ok".

A bit harsh I thought.

For Mick Taylor fans - Gimme Shelter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtDThI-IGX0
Or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70FWS-h43YU
Or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlJT-t1_OPc

No doubt the Mick Taylor era was when the Stones were the "World's greatest rock and roll band" .

The day I graduated college back in 1969 six of us hopped in an old Buick and roadtripped from Iowa to Florida to attend a rumored rock concert in West Palm Beach. The rumor was true and we were entertained by the likes of Janis, Sly, the Byrds, the Airplane, Steppeinwolf, and to end the concert in the middle of the night, the Stones.  Great concert but all that Grnad Funk Railroad brought to the party was noise. You couldn't make out their music because the amps were way too loud.  Never could get into them after that, turned the radio off whenever they came on ever since!
