Points.  Don't mind carbs, but I always felt like setting points was something regularly needed at always the worst time. Love me my electronic ignitions!

Car radiators cooled by engine driven fan overheating in traffic.
Leaf spring suspension.
Seal beam headlights.
Carburetor chokes (my wife couldn't use it properly 100% of the time)

'60-'61 Plymouth had push button transmission, I suspect they were pneumatic.  I do not miss tube type radio or vacuum windshield wipers.

All those Dodge, DeSoto, Chrysler and Plymouth models from the late 50's were cable operated. You can still find the cables on eBay.

Alll Chrysler product automatic transmissions up to the 90's were cable operated. However the interior actuator was varied from push buttons to column to floor shifter over the years. That push button mechanism was a real engineering work of art or at least the engineer thought so.

Vacuum wipers.

Nothing like trying to pass someone on a 2 lane highway at night in the rain and pushing the peddle to floor and watch those wipers slow to a crawl.

Yeah , with the only form of defogging being an open wing glass and those puny 6 volt sealed beam headlights glowing like candles  Similar to driving by Braille .

I don't miss having to go to the bank on Fridays if I wanted cash over the weekend. I don't miss having to solder condensers to points. I don't miss taking drug tests, breathalyzer tests, draconian physicals, and lie detector tests (constantly) to keep my security clearance. I don't miss having to wait a week or two for the answer to a letter.

...and I hated bias-ply tires on cars.

I don't miss taking drug tests,er.

.

Ha I have a new drug test I have to take for my doctor who gives me narcotics. I have to pee in a cup to prove that I actually take the narcs and not sell them on the street. The Feds will check my results and my doc is off the hook if the narcs are in my pee.

I must have been born in the wrong decade, most of the stuff y'all don't like/won't miss are things that I like and use. Don't have a cellphone - only landlines. Wish my Mercedes and van had wing windows. Still play cassettes in the Alpine stereo in the Mercedes. Like having a kickstarter on smaller  displacement engines like my Morini, Rotax and XT500, not sure I want one on larger engines though. Still have (halogen) sealed beams in the 'Benz. All of my Guzzis have points and carbs. The 'Benz has an engine driven cooling fan and has never even gotten close to overheating, but the VW with electric fans has. <shrug>

When I was in the Coast Guard Reserves in the `80s 1 of my young(not me) fellow reservists decided he didn't want to be there any more so he smoked a joint on our reserve weekend.   The next month we all had to do the pee test to see if the rest of us were like him.

First 15+ years of emissions stuff on the engines. What a nightmare of tubing and Rube Goldberg engineering.

Carborated cars, especially in the winter. Pulling the air cleaner when it was 10 below or colder and trying to spray starter fluid was nuts.

Early motorcycle gear. Not that windproof, no armor, and water proofing was a joke.

Those of you who don't like kickstarters, think about that next time your battery won't crank the engine.  My first choice would be to have electric start, and also a kick starter, like many bikes from decades ago were equipped.

Harvey, at the last place I worked as an engineering consultant, the owner was trying to get a fairly large government contract.  He told me that to do the work, I'd be subject to random drug testing.  I told him that although I don't choose to take drugs, as a matter of principal, I don't submit to testing.  He replied that it was only random testing, so he'd just be sure that my name never randomly came up.

In 20 odd years of riding I can count those occasions on one hand. You can bump start an 1100 sport on flat ground buy yourself if you have some idea what you are doing.

Pretty sure the Chrysler push button titans controls had cables attached to the buttons. Welcome to be corrected by anyone that's worked on em

Yep, those push button T/flites were cable operated.
+1 on the vacuum wipers though, they were damn near useless.

Ditto.  I had a CB500 with kick and electric.  If the electric would not start it, the kickstarter would not either.  Sometimes, just for grins I'd use the kick instead of electric.

If the electric starter was down it usually meant something in the system was bad and it wouldn't start anyway.

I push started many times by myself.  Much better if there is a little down slope.  Didn't take much.

I lived outside NYC from 1978 to 1981. At any given time, a person could hear Donna Summer music playing somewhere ALL THE TIME. When Blondie, Elvis Costello, The Ramones, etc all started hitting the airwaves it was as though I emerged from a cave...

Charlie you will still be able to motivate after an EMP event. I still need to get a vehicle with points so I can do the same. Maybe an older diesel would be better. I don't miss the "Duck and cover" excercises that the Russians still do.

pneumatic actuated push button controls on the dash.

Apparently you have not owned a modern Ford product.  I have a new Ford/Mercury vehicle and the heat/air/defrost is controlled by vacuum valves.  6 each.  The o rings break.  Some what easy fix.  Mine is currently stuck in the heat mode.  The flappers will not move to a.c. defrost or turn on the a.c. compressor.  Can't keep the wife out of it long enough to repair.
