If you can't find one in that condition its easy enough to make one that condition. All is takes is money

If you like that version then get an LMII fairing and windshield.  It is about that size.  If the windshield is too high then cut it down a little.  But, the LMII had a square headlight.  I had one on the T5 for a while and it worked very well.  My only problem with it was the airflow hit right in the middle of my helmet, which made it very noisy.  Cutting the windshield down would have made it a bit better, but, I got an SPIII fairing instead :)

One thing that surprised me was how much protection those fairings had for the hands.  Really nice in cold/wet weather.

Still jet lagged and feeling really bad. Maybe trying to drink beer with Pete had something to do with it?  Wondered for a while if I was in good enough shape to ride.. but got feeling better with fresh air and the exhilaration of riding. Many twistys today, along with canyons that looked like they’d been underwater at some time. Followed the John Day river for quite a while. Registered, set up camp, sts with Chris. Went back to camp, and my old SP was sitting by my tent with Greg Field troubleshooting it.  Unbelievable. Stephano from Rome owns it now. Keeps it near M.I. Dave and Dianna invited me down for hot dawgs and beer. It was good for me. Put in my ear plugs and hit the sleeping bag at 7 with a party in full song right outside my tent. Slept like a baby till morning.  I was toast.


Edit: That's Stehano above. Maybe I'll meet him and my old SP again at John Day this year.

I have owned a number of SPs, and I can state they just don't fit my body. Some folks like them, but don't assume you are going to. The fairing makes it nearly impossible to change the handlebars. So if you do not like the handlebar bend, you are out of luck. The early SPs had Lemans I style pegs and weren't bad, but the later SP-NT had more touring oriented footpegs like the T-3, and they put my big feet too far forward, and they would hit the lower fairing. Plus the longer length of the shift lever makes shifting sloppy and looooong throw. The early cut down saddle often suffer from sacked out foam, and I doubt many survive to this day with any firmness. They were low however. The later saddles were a Convert item (slab), regarded to be very comfortable.

Yeah, I prefer the earlier one with the Lemans pegs. I'm *properly* sized for an SP, and it fits me just fine.  You're right, the seat sucks. Mine had an aftermarket seat rebuild.

Hi Chuck, a little clarification. I actually own your SP1000 now. I bought it from FGO about 10 or so years ago.

I met Stephano one morning after I'd pulled into work on my Eldorado. He came down the garage entryway and introduced himself, telling me that he had 3 Guzzis back in Italy. He was in Seattle for a class or something at the UW. We quickly became friends and I introduced him to the local Guzzi crowd, who also became friends.

He's been back to the states several times and I lent him the SP to ride around the area and to the John Day National last time it was there. I may have even met you there too; I was on a Quota at the time.

Anyhow, I still have the bike although it suffered a blown rear main seal a few years back on a trip to South Dakota. Unfortunately I have yet to address it but will do so eventually. It's a pretty fun bike to ride for sure.
