Engine is dedicated from the V9 but only stroke and bores are the same ... the rest is all different..
2 valve heads, titanium valves.
Lighter rods etc.

Actually given that they weigh a little over half as much, they can.  The article explains that valves which weigh less allow improved cam timing without valve train issues.

IIRC Husqvarna does the same on some models, but to get 70 HP from their single they also use DOHC and fairly radical tune.  From the Guzzi pushrod engine I would not expect anywhere near the same HP per liter, titanium valves and improved cam timing not withstanding.

Unfortunately wanting something to be true won't make it so. The laws of physics are a harsh mistress.
